The seeds that Monsanto sells to farmers are only good for one harvest and they usually contractually obligated to buy new seeds every season. Dystopia already exists

Yes, when they pretend to be coyotes or wolves and the Howling went on and on and on and I finally turned the volume off and it just kept going. That was very bizarre.

SPOILER

I was disappointed by the ending. Showing a glimpse of the citadel and then just letting all the seeds blow in the wind felt like she just gave up. If she really cared about the seeds succeeding for the have-nots, she could have planted them in predictable places and provided the best conditions for them.

I actually thought the animal book scene worked well. It's probably the first time in Vesper's young life that she's been able to just be a child; goof around and annoy a parental figure. It went on a little long but it helped me get more invested in the Camellia/Vesper relationship and understand what Camellia represents to Vesper at that point: the hope of a more secure, happier life.

The flying drone is an actual drone! Yes in some scenes they used CGI for it, but in most parts there was an actual operator (just met this drone on preview in Lithuania).

Also, regarding your last point about renting/watching it in cinema - this movie was purposely made to be seen on cinema screen, colors were adjusted for cinema view, those were the words of film director herself. In short, I liked it!

Imho this would be better served if it was made as a mini series, rather than a movie. Nonetheless it was quite atmospheric and overall I enjoyed it. The ending was really really good.

Ok, I have ADHD, but I also have a lot of trouble following movies that go TOO fast or don’t spend enough time establishing characters and scenes. I was totally engrossed in this, and the run time flew by! Thumbs up for movies that take their time.

I agree with the plot point issue mentioned here (and the editing for the Animal book scene), but to me the immersion was perfect, and the ending was not surprising given the budget and the slow reveals about the Citadel. I also thought that the realities of being a young girl alone, in a dystopian environment, with no currency, were handled in oblique but meaningful ways. It’s definitely worth a rental.

"I Think We're Alone Now" with Peter Dinklinge is one I think you should check out.

Wow. 2.5 couches? I would give it 4 out of 5 couches. I thought the acting was good and I really liked the story.

I just finished watching it, and i really want a sequel. It will probably have a bigger budget, and the stage is set for a far wider story. Lets see if there are any promises

There has to be a sequel for this movie. Maybe even a trilogy.

One of the better sci-fi movies I've seen in years.

It is one of these few movies that left me wanting MORE at the end! Loved it, I did get invested. The pace is effective. Acting great. The feeling of dread stayed with me which was good. Your review misses the mark unfortunately.

I loved the movie. The story presents a whole new universe with a lot to digest. This a new sort of medieval societal model but in the future and after an ecological collapse. I think that to make the story move “faster” would had been a mistake. I guess if you only expect action from your dystopias this might look boring. It didn’t looked boring to me.

The movie was awsome. It offered us something new, not the ordinary sci fi junk from Hollywood. Is it perfect? Ofc not it has its flaws but you can not be unimpressed how much “gas” they got out from it if you think this most likely has a very low budget. Young actors relatively unknown still making a great job. The esthetic in the movie is also realy cool and it beeing dark and gritty just makes it even more awsome. Realy surprised over how good it is compaired to most other new sci-fis.

Great visuals but could have been a 30 min YouTube movie on the Dust channel. I really didn't care about any of the characters. The Citadel troopers looked pretty Menacing though. I could see this as a limited season or something. A lot of stories could be told from this universe. Just need to invest time to flesh the characters out better.

The message of the movie was powerful. No mention of it I see.

I just watched Vesper. An artistic if not morose view of the future. It is brilliant
