Tears For Fears - Everybody Wants to Rule the World (1985)

Anachronistic music from Columbia. Ragtime-Waltz cover.

Say what you will about the game itself, but no one can deny that the music choice relative to the story was phenomenal.

Words cannot express how much I love Bioshock.

Bioshock Infinite was such a unique game. I love how confusing it was, but at the same time mysterious. The portals to different universes, the possibilities, the scenery, It's all so nice.

Nothing against Lorde, but THIS will always be my favorite cover of the song.

(1:10) "There's a room where the light won't find you
Holding hands while the walls come tumbling down
When they do I'll be right behind you" -this extract becomes damn frightening after you play Burial at Sea...

*Walk into Columbia Archaeological Society Museum
*Turn on this song on the gramophone
*Make Booker Jump up and down and spin until the song is over
*Turn song on again
*Repeat for as long is physically possible

How they made "artists" from the game take inspiration from future songs like this by just looking at the "rifts" was genius. Never seen anything like it in any videogame.
Edit: They should have added a Bioshock version of "Breakin' my heart" by Mint Condition.
Edit: Even more mind-blowing how relevant this song is now.

Say what you will about Columbia, but you've gotta admit they do great covers! :)

Kinda wish post modern jukebox had more of such tunes. Especially "After You've Gone", best piece Scott's ever done!

When I found this in game it was awesome. This is one of the coolest things in Bioshock Infinite.

The idea to put covers from other time periods into this game was so clever, and makes me so happy :)

Selecting this song for Bioshock Infinite was so, but oh so spot on. Even I, a person who has barely started to play the original Bioshock, can notice that the lyrics cry Rapture out loud. And, I suppose, they cry Columbia as well.

I still haven't finished the game (almost there), but hearing this from a phonograph in a floating house was one of the best moments, truly beautiful.

I think it's a credit to the game's creators that they took all these songs and gave them a 1912 feel. Such talent!

When I heard this song playing on that one phonograph (by the red rip where we hear "girls just want to have fun" playing through) I actually sat down in game/by the rubble of the broken building and listened to the full thing. It was super immersive and actually a great cover. The music choices fit so well with the story. "Tears for Fears" sounds straight up like a mission name too, coincidentally.
