I always fancied Bananarama - they made some great "catchy" pop tracks

7.20 Poor research. "Breakout" was a hit for Swing Out Sister and not Shakespears Sister. Nothing to do with Bananarama members at all. Shakespears Sisters first single was "Break My Heart"

Bananarama was definitely one of the signature sounds of the 80's.

i love the story that The Scene from Absolutely Fabulous - where they fall out of a taxi is based on Bananarama - those girls could party!

Didn't like them as a kid, but looking back, I think they were good fun. They had nice voices, the songs were good pop numbers, they looked like they were having fun. I love Shakespear' s Sister. Siobhan Fahey and Marcella Detroit sounded great together, I think once Siobhan got away from the 'pop' label and could let that gravelly voice out, she flourished as an artist,

The photos not only bring back a sense of nostalgia, but also give me a glimpse into their musical journey. A great article for Bananarama fans!

My favorite is the cruel summer video where they ride with a truck driver

Bananarama never had much in the way of talent or singing ability, always thought they just filled a niche at the time that wasn’t occupied by a group of good female singers, they were simply a covers girl band lucky to be in the right place at the right time…

They're name is pronounced "banana-ram-a", not not "banana-romma".

This is an appallingly badly researched article . Funniest bit was when it said they were punk and new wave

You say, 'they didnt set out to be model singers.'' (1.51) Whats a 'model singer?' Can you give example of model singers of that time please?

The Jolley/Swain produced albums were incredible.
"True Confessions" was my favorite as far as songwriting.
Ready Or Not, Trick Of The Night, Dance With A Stranger, etc were masterpieces of 1986.
White Train should have been on the album after Ready Or Not but was cut from the album and made a B-side.

I have 2 copies of all the Bananarama albums on vinyl up until WOW! Then they fell off for me after Pop Life.

I had a love hate attitude to Bananarama. I hated their music but they were such fun gals it was impossible to not love them.

Great video till the end when stupid thumbnail for other video is plastered center screen over band picture as video is still playing. Pathetic. That's why thumbs down.

They had a album track from the true confessions album dance with a stranger that should have been released as a single
