As a software developer, this principle sounds very familiar. There is always gonna be the guy that wants to redesign the whole system or wants to start over (second system syndrome). But you MUST always try hard to find an incremental solution that can be reverted after each step.

Those the types of decisions the CEO should be dealing with. But for most employees the vast majority of decisions are easily reversible and people spend 10x more time trying to mitigate the risk rather than just doing it then reversing it if it sucks.
