How to unlock Super Sonic on Sonic The Hedgehog 2 on any stage, without any Chaos Emeralds! Includes Level Editor! Played on the SEGA Genesis. Full description on how to enter the code. included below:

Step by step guide to activate Super Sonic
First, go to the Options menu. From there, move down to the Sound Select menu and play the following sounds in the order below:

Once you have played each one once, press the C button and then press Start to be brought back to the title screen. Now, when you see Sonic and Tails appear on screen, hold down the A button and press Start. This will bring you to the level select menu.

From this menu, enter the Sound Test feature, and play the following sounds in this order:

02
06

Once successfully entered, select a stage and enter the game. Once you collect a minimum of 50 coins in any level, Jump (Press A) to activate the Super Sonic code.

I loved getting Super Sonic when i was a kid. That acceleration, the music, it was insane! Super Sonic was especially fun to play with in the Chemical Plant Zone. Hated having him in the Mystic Cave Zone, tho. Especially when you would dive down that large spiked ditch after grabbing the handle, but the bridge didn't come down fast enough for you to land on.

I don't think that playing games in the '90s was all *that* chaotic of an experience. There was no shortage of various video game magazines where you could find out these types of secrets. I remember learning this cheat in "Tips & Tricks" magazine back then.

Technically this isn't without the Chaos Emeralds, as the code actually *gives* you the Emeralds so then you can become Super Sonic right away. This is proven by the fact that you can no longer enter Special Stages, as they're all set as complete.

They are called rings, not coins. And you're very close: to get Sonic to transform into Super Sonic, collect 50 or more rings and then jump in the air to transform.
