Great Scene. Shatner "knocks it out of the park" on that one.

I always thought there could have been a scene where Kirk has to confront Carol Marcus and tell her her son is dead - especially after she told him she "wanted David in her world not his"

"Both William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy later confirmed that this was an accident. Shatner was supposed to sit back in the chair, but when he hit the floor he remained in character. It was agreed by the director Nimoy and everyone else that this take should make it into the movie to illustrate how shaken Kirk was by the news. " (Star Trek Expanded Universe FB)

One of the crazy things was when kirk was trying to sit in his captains chair after he found out that david died and he stumbled trying to sit in the chair that wasn't supposed to happen but they kept that scene in the movie though cause it seemed legit even that it was an accident by william shatner.

What was the reason in plot to kill the only Kirk's son? Oh comon, so plain stupid drama out of nowhere. Better not to bring him in scenario then, they could just mention him in episodic role, that Kirk's son just working somewhere else in galaxy. Absolutely there was no need in his death. I think such characters like heroe's most close relatives must have an armor plot, because heroes must have a legacy to be immortal. Such downgrade of plot writing after second movie. What a shame...
