Here's the simple explanation: the matches push the bottle under the table. The center of gravity is underneath, so the support needed is much less. Technically speaking, it doesn't require a moment resisting connection after it's pushed under the table.

Lowest match is grip,
Middle match is weight barer,
Upper match is hold.
This is literally how your hands work and why you can seemingly lift extremely heavy objects with your pinky. The entire strain is in the middle match's center (your tendons), the lower match supports the upper match through grip by being clamped against the rope's surface (wrist) and then the upper holds the top of the rope (finger).

In simpler terms: Upper match won't fling upwards because it isn't being strained, the lower and middle match are.

I did the experiment and shows same result. Here's why;
1. The inclined position of the match stick pushes the tie against the entire thickness of the table in which it counter the force and accordingly gives equilibrium of forces.
2. In simple words, entire weight is downward but is concetrated in the 1st match stick's middle pt. or the pt where the tie was attached.

This is a great example of Engineering Statics--- the study of forces on stationary objects.

My brain still refuses to accept this.

Interesting enough, it seemed like it only fell when the top match moved sideways, shifting the directon of involved forces and breaking the canceling effects

The most intuitive way of looking at this to me is:
If you think about the mechanics of the system, in order for the match to rotate the bottle would have to move *up* (not directly up, I just mean however it moves it would have to increase in height). It won't do that since gravity is pulling it down.
When you have just the one match, the bottle moves down which pulls the match off the table.

Well it is really just created a low pressure increasing the area
Well as we know p is inversely proportional to area so if there is more area then it will be less pressure
We know that pressure moves from high to low so the surrounding will apply a high pressure force in all directions making the bottle
That's just a easy class 9
(Unless and until i am speaking correct)
One thing more
The reason why he place a 3rd matchstick perpendicular to the 2nd is that to join it to the 1st matchstick which in turn is joined with the wooden thus the surface area is more increased

Do not call it as a magic this is physics that doing that…! In physics we say that we are changing center of mass of the object

Your videos are very good but I am surprised that you get so less views

It works but took way too long to get it right. Does your string stretch? Have you tried this on a table with a curved edge?

nice convenient video cut before the "hanging" part

I was confident that It would work but at first I did it wrong I kept the rope in the matchstick corner but when I putted it in middle it worked . happy happy happy

You should make Elephant toothpaste. You need Hydrogen peroxide, Yeast, Food coloring, Warm water, And Potassium iodine

The third matchstick will push the string and the bottle inside the table one r the suspended stick starts to rotate and thereby the line of weight wis exactly along the inner tip of the first stick thereby making no net moment

I'm not sure why but when it all fell down I got startled lol

That’s the power of static equilibrium

I did it after trying for 1 hr and balance the centre of mass

How do you get match #2 to stay in between the string without falling? Did you use super glue on the string or match ends before filming? Gravity would obviously make match #2 fall unless there's enough tension, somehow, to hold it there. Same with match #3; it should have fallen... especially being placed at an angle like that.
