#shorts The results of this simple experiment may surprise you. We have two different ramps that a metal ball can roll down. Stay until the end to see which metal ball made it down the fastest.

and now we know why the bumpy slide in the playground was super scary!!

"No magnets. Only physics is involved."
Even if this experiment included magnets, I'm sure physics would still be involved.

Lesson: A straight path is the shortest way indeed, but no one said it is the fastest...

Well, in my house, at least, one ball always hangs lower...

The anticipation of waiting for him to roll the balls was infuriating.

Life lesson:

Struggles gives victory, not smoothness .

Both ramp do not have the same distance. The left path is longer which make this even more interesting.

Don't forget to notice the ultimate key to the speed is the upward slope of the "bumpy" path doesn't negate the acceleration of the downward momentum.

They should have jigs like that in school. Much better than reading words only.

When hiking with my parents during my childhood I already learned: A shortcut is the biggest distance between two points.

I noticed this in water slides. People seemed to pick up speed faster than you think they should

I was trying to come up with a joke about momentum..

But I just can’t seem to get it going 😐

Ok… just the opposite of what I expected. Thanks for the vid!

Would be interesting if the left ball would also be faster when choosing another point of the sin wave.
Or what will happen when the angle of the slopes is altered.

Lesson: the more bumps up and down you will go through, the faster you will reach your goal of life....

Cool demonstration. I would have liked it even better if you did a slow motion replay.

Actually I think the ball jumped in the air so had no friction during those times. Also yes, since non conservative forces were involved the motion path can provide different acceleration. But also if I’m not mistaken the Action (physics term) is more minimized by the bumpy path. It’s like a brachistochrone. So there are actually 3 different reasons here.

This is why the slides at carnivals are shaped like the left ramp. To get faster speed on the slide.

I recently just found out this account and I’m absolutely delighted at the content! The videos they post are so fascinating and intriguing and I love their bubbly-sounding voice!
