Choosing the cladding for your garden room can be a tough choice so here I break down how to go about deciding. Obviously I can only really show the cladding choices I made in any detail so this felt like a good way to address the topic more broadly.

Thank you so much for all your super videos. Wish I'd found you ages ago! However, I'm closer to the end of current projects but a new outside room I'm planning I can take all your most helpful points and considerations forward with me! My 'garden room/shed' is built on 2 levels and almost all wood and supplies are all from freecycle..some wood is over 100yrs old and much was twisted making things doubly complex. However ... I'm now sorting the floor and inner walls. As close to a neighbours wall I needed the outside vertical cladding to be removable from the inside! 😂 I could chat with you for ages about all the many complexities if the build inc building around a cherry tree!. And I've still a way to go yet! I need to complete the lean to that's next to it too.
So thank you! As I do the inside walls and floor your videos have told me all that I needed to know. 👍😁 TY. 😇

Beautiful choices for your home! I love the durability, low maintenance, and fire protection from metal and fiber cement lap boards. But the aesthetics of your front facade with the cedar is something that is manageable and slightly protected with that nice overhang! I build all my properties with the largest overhang possible. Like an umbrella that will protect the building for decades.

In the planning permission video you were told by building regulation to avoid wood cladding to get class zero fire rating. How were you able to use wood for the front of the garden room? Thanks

Thanks for the insights - I am building my workshop backwards! Started with an electricity supply, Ethernet and phone connection to the end of the garden.
Have sorted out a retaining wall. Now beginning to think about an extended concrete slab and the workshop on top.

Hi Ali. Thank you for the inspiration - I plan to follow in your footsteps later this year. In one of your earliest videos you mentioned using Class 0 cladding to comply with Building Regs. Could you define what this means?

Random, but I used a load of pine doors and a liberal coating of Ronseal. Need to revisit it this year as I want to fill some of the holes, but it worked better than expected. Cheap, too!
