Why My Straight Pipe BMW Is Awesome

Exhaust system upgrades are not uncommon, but this is why people (and why I) did this upgrade with my BMW 335i n54. The Catalytic Converter provides a number of functions, but also slows down exhaust and therefore creates turbo lag.

As soon as I did this change, the driving experience changed and you know that's what I'm all about. Stay tuned for more about my #BMW #n54!

I couldn't stop smiling when I installed my catless dp's 😊. Then I went mhd stage 2+ and deleted my secondary cats and she hauls!!

Yes removing cats will allow more exhaust flow and higher hp at the top end at the cost of low end power due to back pressure loss. That's why ppl feel power loss when the car doesn't dig as well. Depends what you want and how your car is tuned.

I have the N55 but trust when I say that my custom fitted 4 inch Megan DPs transformed my car not only in performance but the sound is delicious.

Now I'm Stg 2 MHD with the Burble Tune and the car backfires, snaps, crackle and pops with the sound of loud gunshots that make people jump thinking somebody is shooting at them. DPs are easily one of the best mod)s for either version of the 335i beit N55 or N54.
It easily sits up there as best mods with Inlet(s), Outlet(s), MHD and for those of us with automatic transmissions xHP Stg 3.

what exactly is your full exhaust setup? I’m getting a setup installed this weekend and want to make sure I know what I want before I get there. Yours sounds exactly like what I’m going for!

Hey Mark...I don't think many shops will remove cats from your car will they? I was just at a local muffler shop today with my e60 M5 and wanted them to take out the middle resonator and secondary cats (the small ones in the middle of the car). I have heard of guys doing this....The shop said they wouldn't touch the cats because it is is illegal ($10k fine). So, we just took out 2 of the 4 mufflers in the back and it is just right. Not loud, no drone on the highway, but you can hear it at higher rpm. Added benefit is it shed about 30 lbs and maybe gained some power and mpg....plus, it will pass smog since we didn't mess with any of the Mark, the real story is the sound!!!! the v10 at high revs - it's amazing.

Catless downpipe and burger tuning - stock mid pipe, stock catback, best mod i did for my F82. M4, no check engine light, no smell. plenty of Power, no raspy sound, 480-500 maybe? huge difference, plenty of power for Street, ON turbo cars, you do not lose any power after going straight pipe, Top end is huge, of course you need to re-tune the car after that.

I would love to install catless downpipes unfortunately in Sydney Australia we have vary strict rules massive fines over $10, 000 Australian dollars . I got a catless exhaust system already. In ur opinion hi flow catted downpipes would be best option for my n54 335i? U pretty good when it comes to this stuff. Ur 335i with catless downpipes and strait piped exhaust sounds mad

Can you do a video on the jaguar xf and perhaps the reliability on the older years?

Cool car! The question is, if I go straight pipe on a 335d, will I pass the emissions test?

Through MHD you can disable cold start.

Hey thanks for the great videos, I have a e90 330i and I intend to do the same, but as I know when you delete the CAT, the car's computer will activate the safe mode which will minimize the power, so what do you think?

Love it! I’m waiting to put my DPs on till I’m ready to flash MHD. I keep hearing at my local Bimmer meets that the car will go into limp mode with catless DPs. Have you had that happen yet?

I think your car would be better off with some resonators. Exhaust valves are more temperature stable, low end torque, drivability will be more linear with a little back pressure. That crackle is cold air getting sucked back thru the exhaust valves when letting off the accelorator. Several glasspacks will take care of this. If you ever heard a Ferrari.. many resonators..including resonated exhaust tips! I have never heard an exhaust sound finer than a Ferrari. Sport bikes same principle, straight exhaust with glasspack.

My Nissan sentry sounds killer with straight pipes

Mark, its to loud. You need to tune the exhaust: perhaps some small resonators or mufflers just to dial (the sound) back a bit. Remember, your tuning and not hacking!
Also, you'll have to check with the BMW guys as you Will need to flash the ECU: one, so it runs properly and two, so you don't get CEL on the dash! I'm all but certain that you will throw some codes.
I do enjoy your channel.

You will have more leaks and issues with your cooling system if you don't go ahead and just replace all cooling system components. Always do that in a 8 plus year old bmw

just fully straight pipe it like me if you don't have emissions!!
