Mika calls out double standards, false equivalencies in Trump vs. Harris news coverage

In this week’s “Morning Mika,” hosts Mika Brzezinski, Huma Abedin and Symone Sanders-Townsend take a closer look at how the news media jumps through hoops to ‘balance’ coverage of the presidential candidates. “There is an almost desperation to pretend that this race is like any other. It is not. Something even more destructive is happening. It’s the numbing of a population. The breakdown of society right before our eyes,” says Brzezinski.

In 2016, at Cooperstown, New York, I had a conversation with Henry, a plumber who expressed great concern about the danger posed by Trump. Henry had a high school degree, and I was supposed to be the educated one with doctorate degree from a top university. His words still rings in my ears: "It will take generations to recover from the damage that will be done to America by Trump". As an independent, I figured he was exaggerating the possible calamity, because the presidents have advisors who help them to avoid mistakes. But Trump fired any advisor who had intelligence and integrity. As history shows, Henry was correct. It will take at least one generation to repair the damage done by Trump to the American social and political culture, and to the integrity of the American Judiciary System.

Thank you, Mika, for bringing this up. I am disgusted by the false equivalency
and repulsed by even so-called "balanced" programs like the PBS NewsHour, which gives equal time to both candidates even though one is obviously not qualified to be president. The fact that Trump is even a candidate is so depressing and discouraging, suggesting something deeply wrong with our system (i.e., the electoral college).
