2015 Ford Escape or Ford Fusion Shifter Problem

Read this description to save you money!

The shifter on my 2015 Ford Escape was stuck in the "park" position but was actually in neutral when the car was started. The shifter would not move. This video covers the shifter release switch located under the shifter panel, but all that does is get the car stuck in "Sport Mode." If in either situation continue to watch as the actual problem could be the transmission linkage bushing attached to the shifting rod. This video gives tips and advice on troubleshooting this issue. I pulled into a gas station and when i returned i was able to move my shift lever but the gears would not shift .i searched for an answer and found the video about the white shifter release which was no help .i then after alot of frustration found this video and was driving home whithin 10 mins thank you so much .ps.the part is the shufter linkage bushing.

Thank you for your informative video. I have a 2016 Connect. Traveling to the Jersey shore, stopped at Wawa for gas, shifter disconnected while getting gas. Panicked, call AAA, while waiting googled seeing your video. Yes, I thought it was the shifter! Popped the hood, just as you said, the cable disconnected from the trans lever. Saved the towing and repair cost, yet more importantly, we’re on our way to the Jersey shore for the Memorial Day weekend. Thanks again for the video!!!

Thank you!!!! I was so screwed until I found your video. I was literally stuck at the bank teller window and cars were behind me honking. It was bad. Had this issue and found that the bushing is a fairly common part for most Ford models and seems to be readily available at the Ford dealership. When I went to get one the parts manager knew exactly what I needed without even looking it up. The bushing cost me $1.15 and took about 30 minutes to replace from start to finish. On the 2013 Ford Escape you will have to remove the air filter box and hoses to get to the transmission lever, but all in all not that difficult. Thanks for the video, it cut down my repair time not having to search for the shifter lever... that thing could have been a challenge to find.

Saw many videos about the shift before seeing your video and you were right! Also the people in the comments about the recall saved me a lot of money and not having a self garage mechanic from fixing it. I called the local Ford Dealership ship. There is now an official recall by Ford on this particular issue. Safety recall notice 22S42/NHTSA recall 22V413. I received notice from Ford last November. Repairs by Ford are to be completed free of charge to the customer.

Great video. Got stuck in a parking lot, pulled up your video and had the issue temporarily fixed in 3 minutes. Got home and called ford up. They will fix the issue under recall # 22V413 (2015 Escape)
