I think it's funny that people sometimes think Mick doesn't play leads. Dude rips. How about that solo in Psychosocial? It's like 64th note triplets. Dude alternate picks every note.

I've always seen Jim do the solos on their songs; I was a little worried that Mick couldn't do them so they only use Jim instead. Thankfully this isn't the case! :)

I see a lot of discussion about who's the lead guitar and who is rythm in Slipknot, even though Jim got more solos last years still Mick nearly always plays lead through all albums, mick was the one who got most intros, who got harder to play technical parts, Jim is more like rhythm guitar in Slipknot. If you can't believe me literally look at songs like Wait and Bleed, Opium of the People, This Cold Black, Disasterpiece or most of the Slipknot songs.

I think everyone forgets the Pulse of the Maggots solo where they both go back and forth.

Mick is more of a precision, note for note player, while Jim is like… imma do whatever i want, and hope that it sounds similar to how i wrote it.

Dumb fact about me: up to a few weeks ago, I used to think that mick played the second guitar part in prosthetics

aight, let's settle this: jim and mick both do leads. jim is more of a lead than mick. first album mick was the lead guitarist and jim only recorded 2 songs if i remember correctly (he joined late).

second album was mostly mick too, although it didn't really have many leads. third was mostly mick too. AHIG it became more 50/50. after that it's mostly jim. you can also tell mick does more of the rythm stuff while jim does octave chords etc.

non is better than the other. they have their own style and sound. it's really just a preference. i prefer jim, that's just because i like his style more. doesn't mean he's better or worse.

they compliment each others playing perfectly. one of my favorite guitar duos. both are amazing. mick tends to shred more with alternate picking, while jim plays more legato and melodic.

Anyone know which the guitar that is? Not his usual Ibanez model's.
