My GCSE results: I debated posting this as I still feel it’s my guilty secret, a teacher who failed so many GCSE’s.

Even when I first showed my wife, she asked why I hadn’t included the U’s. She had to force me to put them all on their but told me it was part of my story and if I hadn’t had this happen I wouldn’t be who I am today.

I had a supportive family but struggled with Dylsexia and undiagnosed ADHD and I thought my grades meant my dreams of following in my father’s footsteps as a teacher would never happen. (YouTube has description limits so check IG to see full story of how I got to where I am)

I feel naked posting this and it may not be of interest to many of you reading this, but if you got exam results you are upset with and feel your dreams are over, think again. Life is just beginning and you have the power to change. In five years time you could be on the road/where you want to be. Don’t be so hard on yourself.

Who we are is not defined by a piece of paper and I wouldn’t be the award winning teacher I am if I hadn’t lived my experiences and took this road to get there.

My brother got his GCSE results today and was very happy with them but he stresses about things like that. Lovely message❤

Can I just say as someone who has SEN and wants to go into SEN teaching, you do a truly amazing job and as a teaching group are so under apriacted. People like you are literally what makes a difference between success in what ever from for SEN children or being failed by society. So truely thank you and keep doing what you are doing.

My youngest had his results a few days ago and didn't get what he needed to do the A-Levels. His school literally washed their hands of him. We went to another local school and they've accepted him on similar courses that I feel will be the making of him. He felt devastated. I've showed him this and this has really given him a boost. Thank you. ❤

For a second my brian forgot people older than me existed and thought "ha. 2004? yeah right, nobody is doing GCSEs at that age."

Congratulations! As someone who has a family members, mum and dad who both did not so well in school; dad is a band 5 ODP, mum works for an agency in schools now!

Your path may not be clear when finished school, but one day you’ll find that light! My mum is 54, only in the last 3 years has she started her dream job!

Hi Tommy! I just wanted to say thank you for this very uplifting short❤ as someone who’s parents care a lot about grades and everyone else in my school is a freaking genius I generally have pretty low self esteem about my grades. Although I’m not talking GCSE’s for another 2 years, I’m constantly stressing about them as I feel like I need to gets only 8’s and 9’s just to not feel stupid or to live up to my parents expectations. But your story made me realise that these grades won’t define the rest of my life. So thank you once again for sharing your story and for putting a smile on my face everyday.
