I use Fenix 7x sapphire solar. Battery life is already so good. Super long batt life and AMOLED is nice to have but way too X to switch for. Will skip this iteration. Thanks for the video.

Not sure how the title is bait and switch. He said don't waste your money. He didn't say don't waste your money on the 8. If you are paying same price then you'd be wasting your money on the 7 because the 8 is better ish. But right now you can buy the 7 solar sapphire for $449 which makes it a better deal IMHO.
