Yes, hydraulic presses make use of liquid's incompressable properties, but whats not said is that its not 1:1, like demonstrated in this video. Seeing that sledgehammer reminded me of when I was in college, in the welding bays, a lad was using a hammer on his workpiece in a vice, he swung, missed the workpiece entirely and hit the vice. The hammer exploded in his face, he had a bit of shrapnel in his chin and cheeks. A big fragment was embedded in his safety glasses, had he not been wearing them, he could have been blinded by that incident.

Never impact a hammer full force against an object that can't take or dampen the impact, for example, a large steel block.

No, this is inexact under every point of view. Incompressibility doesn't mean amplifying force. The point is that the pump act on a cilinder way smaller than the ones that activate the piston. In this way the pressure is equal but the force is amplified.
