Webcam captures DHL cargo plane crash in Lithuania

Ski park webcam shows A DHL cargo plane crashing on approach to an airport in Lithuania's capital and skidding into a house Monday morning, killing a Spanish crew member but not harming anyone on the ground. The cause is under investigation.

0:10 imagine being that car driver when a big plane literally crashes over your head... Terrible accident, it's a miracle there were no casualties on the ground.

The nose of the aircraft clearly pitched downward before striking power lines or something else. A miracle anyone survived…

Look around the 8sec mark. Pay attention to wing lights. The right wings lights are consistent through out with the main body lights. The left wingtip light appears to move upward while the remaining lights don't change their positions in relation to each other. Spitting in the wind here but is it possible there was a structural failure on one of the wings? I don't see any indications of an explosion onboard before the crash.

Slow it down and watch the plane before the 0:07 mark. It is flying with a particularly high deck angle. My bet here is a stall with or without engine failure. It would be interesting to know what flap configuration, airspeed and gross weight the aircraft was at prior to this occurrence.

A plane before DHL did not land and diverted to Riga. Why didn't the previous plane land and divert to Riga?

Observe the arc of power lines? cut right before nose pitches down. Contact likely made with vertical stabilizer (dorsal fin). Evening/low light condition, pilots possibly had never landed at nearby airport so likely did not know lines were there? Always sad!

The landing approach beforehand seemed fairly normal before the aircraft had gained some heavy weight in the front of the nose.

A surveillance video showed the plane descending normally as it approached the airport before sunrise, and then exploding into a huge ball of fire behind a building. The moment of impact could not be seen in the video.

Lithuanian officials acknowledged that one line of inquiry will be whether Russia played a role given its suspected involvement in other cases of sabotage — although they stressed that there is no evidence pointing to that at this stage.
