Thanks for the review!

After seeing this I had to purchase this for myself and I´m very happy, got it on sale for around 70 $ among with the model "Handie" as a companion. These two blade are very well made I would say that they are an "European ESEE", great value and great warranty. In fact I kinda like it a bit more than my ESEE-knives, think they are a little bit more ergonomic and user friendly and not as heavy to carry around. On longer hikes these will of course stay home (will bring moras, terävä, peltonen and benchmades that are lighter instead) but for day hikes or in camp they are truly great. I only had these for a short while and time will tell but right I have a feeling they will stand the test of time.

Best regards from sweden!

ps. the retention on my kydex was great

Right on Mark. A nice big knife that lends itself to the heavier work. Thanks for sharing.

To fix the retention issue with the sheath you can heat up the kydex just behind where you see the finger guard sits and and press to make that area tighter. Pretty easy fix

It looks like a very functional survival knife, reminds me of a Schrade. I think I'll pick one up.

G'day Mark, the "overall" design of this one is RIGHT UP my alley, pretty much the ideal 6 incher IMO.
and I do appreciate jimping, especially coarse/blocky !!!.
Yeah, it needs a bit of file work here and there, though not much by the looks.
Sheath; you certainly dont want a poor riveting job, easily fixable if necessary, but in no way should that be a thing to start with. I'm in two minds about the Al belt loop mounting. Some full nylon jobs distort the sheath at the screw holes/slots. On the other hand you'll have metal against your hip; which in fairness, is not a big deal either, but hey, since we're at at ; )
Yep, retention is poor, though again, I dont think its far off, I reckon It'd only be a mm or two. I've never tried it on kydex, (havent had to), do you reckon a heat gun would sort that out ? I assume that's how its done to form the stuff anyway.
The biggest issue I have is the tool steel. Having done a bit of machining back in the day, all you gotta do is look in their direction, to have 'em oxidise. And fair point mate, maybe a dual HT going on.
Bottom line, put this fella in S35 or 30, at a fair price point and I'd sort the tweaks out.
Cheers Duke

This is a brand I've never heard of, so it was cool to see something new (to me anyway). 👍Thanks for sharing, take care my friend and Cheers!

Great breakdown. I do like the profile. I’ve been shopping a larger bushcraft knife. Not sure if this one hits the mark, particularly considering the sheath but, it does have some good elements. Have a great day!

Looks more like a fighting knife than Bushcraft. Nice either way

Would aint curl when you featherstic, mostly because the edge/blade bevels are for slicing rather than wood work. Wood also is a factor, but grinds and the edge type and geometry, is what makes the wood curl when you doing feathersticks.

Ive never heard bad on o2 steel and the high grind to me makes a great feather stick weather damp or dry with our northern mn. Variety of woods. Batoning seems no issue and to me a sharp 90 degree spine is a must for scraping and ferro use in a survival knife. With the sheath i would stitch a leather strap above the guard with a line 24 snap to keep in place. The acid wash helps with the old fire and forge look if thats what there after. a high grind to me also makes an easier resharpen. Im going after this one.

If you don't sharpen a new knife (at least once), to give it a proper edge, then you're going to have chips or rolls on the edge no matter what. That's because the factory edges are flat and rough as also the steel on the edge is "burnt" from the factory belts they use to create the edge bevels. a proper polished edge, with a slight convex (avoid using mousepads, that's a bad method that leads to over-conexing and large edge angles), will impove both the edge stability/edge retetnion and the cutting performance. Also, after 2 to 3 full sharpening sessions, edge shows at least 3 times higher edge retention and 3 times more edge stability. That's true with almost all mass produced knives.

Good review Mark, thanks for sharing, YAH bless !

Morning Mark. For the price, I’d be tempted to get it, but unless I was going to use it as a kitchen knife, that sheath makes it useless. I’ve never made a sheath and don’t plan to.

I like the design of the knife. I would prefer it in stainless steel. It definitely needs a custom leather sheath. Time to cross baton some deer flies…..🥴😵‍💫✌️🇺🇸🇨🇦✌️

Excellent review! I'm not quite certain why they would name it the Expendable, with a price that high $125? An expendable knife should be something like the Harbor Freight $10 knife that you can beat the heck out of and easily go buy another, should it fail? I have one of those HF knives and haven't been able to use it hard enough to break it yet. Don't get me wrong, the HF could never compare in steel quality like this one in your review, but it is quite expendable! Just my opinion...again, great video and review! 😎👍

Sheaths are no worry - I'm a leather crafter. 😁

it's alot of blade on that tool.
thanks...but I am comfortable with my inexpensive, easily replaceable mora knives.

Your sheath must be a dud. I've no problem with mine.😊
