I'm not interested in this at all, BUT. They have a golden opportunity to be clever with their tag names here. "Vanilla Cakeverse" for tame fluffy not actual cannibalism stuff, like nibbling / kink play basically version. "Strawberry Cakeverse" for stuff that gets into actual biting / whatever. And then "Chocolate Cakeverse" for darker stuff, and "Red Velvet Cakeverse" for the fucking horror gore stuff. It they don't do this I'll be so mad, the naming scheme writes itself.

My first thought when you went over what “cakeverse” is all about was “Hey, this sounds an awful lot like how demigods in the PJO series taste and smell amazing to monsters…” I’m lowkey surprised I’ve never seen it in the PJO corner of AO3, ngl. Like, I don’t filter out _anything_ in the tags in that fandom, unless I feel like reading something specific. I just look through what’s new for something interesting. Bruh I kinda want to make a fork/normal fic in which they just hunt down cakes together, but the fork doesn’t know their partner is normal (the normal is pretending to be a fork for some reason or another) and the normal has to compromise their morals because they think that’s the only way the fork will stay with them. They think the relationship is strictly for business, but the fork has fallen in love… this can work platonically too!

I'm both surprised and not at all surprised that no one in the cookie run fandom has thought of using this. Surprised because cakes do straight up exist as living things that are separate from cookies (also there being a canonical cookie-cake hybrid in the form of Red Velvet Cookie), but also not surprised because since cakes do exist it would make terminology confusing.

Honestly I have an interesting idea for this AU. Give cakes the ability not to be able to die. Basically give them the regeneration abilities of Deadpool/Wolverine. When the body part gets taken off it just regenerates. You could actually have good angst potential for cakes. Like you could have a family member to get shot and killed and the cake knowing their cake and wishing they were there because they could have been used as a shield and protected their loved one. In fact this could also mean the government might want to use cakes in wars knowing they can't die. It also allows you to get as violent as you want with a fork and a cake by having it be that a cake can't die. So no matter how many times the body gets eaten those parts just come back. You could still even have some body horror with it as well. By having a story about a cake getting kidnapped. And ends up getting tortured in a similar way to Kaneki in Tokyo ghoul. Where put into constant pain their body parts getting eaten again and again. Being forced to feel the pain but knowing they would never get the release of death. In fact you can also add in the concept that a fork eating a cake extends the fork's life thanks to a cake's regeneration ability. I would love to see someone take this idea and put it into a fanfiction or an original story because honestly I find this idea very fascinating fascinating.

Edit: I could also see this also leading to a weird fluffy version of cannibalism where cakes can't die they just get used to forks taking their body parts knowing they just regenerate real fast. In fact you can probably get some dark comedy gags about them waking up with a sword inside their body and they're just annoyed that that partner did it again. In fact you could also get annoyed when the fork keeps taking off the same body part again and again. It's like basically "can't you have some variety, of what you eat off of me at least." So honestly you can have cute wholesome fluff with cannibalism or very dark psychological impacts of the idea of a whole group of people who cannot die and what that could do to them mentally.

Edit 2: this also means in this version there are now two ways for a cake to learn their cake 1.get into an accident or event that causes part of their body to come off and then it regenerates or 2. The traditional way of it being from a fork whether that is just a kiss then a tell or they're actively getting part of their body eaten. Only to have it grow back afterwards. depends on the situation.

I feel like a similar concept was explored with the Beastars universe with Herbivores and Carnivores. The desire to eat and consume but also love and cherish. To not ruin what you have with your instincts or to submit and inevitably become a monster like society claims.
