Hit-and-run suspect shot after crash with off-duty Fort Worth officer

Police say the off-duty officer called 911 and said he started following a red truck that hit him near I-35W and Morningside Drive and then drove away.

Tbh I don’t like police abusing their power but this shows no sign of abuse. It was a driver that couldn’t be responsible of his own actions and tried to hurt the individual with their own truck as a weapon. Glad that person is not behind the wheel.

The police preach that if you are the victim of a hit and run, to not engage with the aggressor vehicle. Get a plate, report it, and file your insurance. Do not try to chase them down. (criminals get crazy when they feel they are trapped or cornered)

When you have a badge, some cops think you have a free pass, and the laws do not apply to you. Hopefully, there will be some security camera footage that shows the interaction. What the officer claims is totally possible, but it is also possible that the officer became the aggressor after his vehicle was hit.

- Just saying.... a regular citizen would be suspected of over-reacting, so we have to also suspect the officer may have also.

That isn't that road rage? Following a person then shooting, I think that's road rage. Once he gave license and description of the vehicle, I believe he was supposed to stay at the scene until cops come and make a report. Double standard for sure.

I work for Al Sharptons office and we are in route to Texas. These cops think the can be off duty vigilantes. He needed to mind his business. I hope the residents of Fort Worth are prepared to cover the lawsuit.
