Which is enough to go from LA to NY (2797 miles), then go all the way to London (3459 miles), then all the way back to LA from London, you still have and still have 295 miles to spare

Or roughly half the length of the entire

What many people here don't understand: The Great Wall is not a straight line. That is why it may seem ridiculous for people to see how the wall is half the Equator even if it actually does. It is zigzagy and that is why it looks shorter than it actually does. If the zigzagy Great Wall becomes a straight line then it will show its true length to many people.

Some misunderstandings about the Wall is that it was built in one go. It wasn’t.

Different warring states had their own walls and after the Chin Dynasty was established, Chin Shih Huang (the first emperor) finally had the walls connected. The process was gruelling and lost a lot of people. However, we can barely see this original wall today unless you travel westwards where it’s been eroding. The Wall we see today was in fact a restoration project that was done during the Ming Dynasty.

Another misunderstanding is that it can be seen in space. Astronauts in the ISS have reported that it’s not visible at all from space.

A lot of people don't realise that the Great Wall is ridiculously curvy, has a lot of sections sticking out and also has to go up mountains, which all make it so much longer than it seems

By technical definition that's their national boundary. But apparently it's just a heritage site and they believe their western border is the eastern boundary.
