The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Whoever has the following four (characteristics) will be a pure hypocrite and whoever has one of the following four characteristics will have one characteristic of hypocrisy unless and until he gives it up.
1. Whenever he is entrusted, he betrays.
2. Whenever he speaks, he tells a lie.
3. Whenever he makes a covenant, he proves treacherous.
4. Whenever he quarrels, he behaves in a very imprudent, evil and insulting manner."

Simple explanation that I managed to gather for myself as a new convert. Music affects emotions, which in turn affect stability. You find that if you stop listening to it you have much more control over yourself.

It is very important to give non- muslims logical answers.
Music contains intoxication. When music is played, u automatically get attracted towards it and your body starts moving and dancing to the tune.
And gradually, when you get more deeper into it - u will forget in which condition u r.
This gradually leads to consumption of alcohol, mixing up with opposite gender, etc

Whatever Allah conveyed us through his beloved Prophet Mohammed PBUH is for the physical, mental and spiritual betterment of human only which takes us to Jannah(Paradise).... InshaAllah.

Life is a test for all of us and Allah wants us to pass this test and wants us to go to Jannah(Paradise).

Among all his creations, he loves human as a creation the most and so he tests us.

Islam is for everybody. Muslims believe in oneness of God and Prophet Mohammed PBUH is his last and final Messenger. And in Arabic language, God is called as Allah. Logically, the Creator of this Universe can only be ONE.

Watch Dr. Zakir Naik videos to know more about similarities in religions.

First of all, Allah said so. Secondly, music numbs your mind, controls the emotions and disturbs khushu (focus) in prayer.

As a Muslim, I just wanted to point out the following things:

1. You didn't answer the question of the caller, and your job is to answer people's questions. You didn't do your job in the right way, as you are expected to provide evidence to the caller to prove yourself right, but that's not what you have done. Thanks for nothing.

2. You can't tell us that when a Muslim asks "why?" that they are not a Muslim, you have absolutely no right to say someone will be punished by Allah just because they are not religious enough like you. We all are humans and we all make mistakes and Allah the most Merciful WILL FORGIVE anyone if he the Almighty wishes to and you won't be able to ask him: "WHY did you forgive this and that person? They are not religious like you wanted them to be". Allah the most Merciful will tell you: "you are not the one who decides who I forgive or not, I forgive whoever I want whether you want it or not."
So don't say again what you've said at the minute 1:24 "if you say 'it doesn't make sense, why?' you're not a Muslim" brother what you said is really really dangerous, be careful next time.

3. According to your logic and opinion, we don't have the right to seek knowledge, because we should follow without knowing why something is halal or haram. Meanwhile the Prophet (peace be upon him) advised us to seek knowledge. So you are now trying to say we shouldn't do something that our beloved Prophet (peace be upon him) advised us to do?

4. I felt that it was a bit disrespectful from you to tell the caller to unfriend this person as you don't this person (the caller's friend) well enough. They (the friend of the caller) might be a better Muslim to Allah than anyone else, and Allah the Almighty knows best of course. And just because of one mistake that they have made doesn't mean we should be against them.

In Islam, everything has been explained. The sheikh and others give a short answer instead of explaining.
" seek knowledge so you can have a better understanding of your Deen" . As humans our knowledge is very limited therefore, we may not be able to find answers to everything. We have a strong faith in Allah swt..we should be sure understandably that whatever is forbidden are not good for us . Allah swt is knowing Wise.

Music is something that is soothing in the ear. By hearing music people may enter into a philosophy of life that may not be permissible by Allah according to Quran and hadith. Not only that it may cause pertial generation of philosophy that may counts as 'innovation', which is considers as haram. To avoid any sinfull action which sometimes may be known or unknown music consider as haram.

Asking why isnt haram. Seeking knowledge is actually encouraged! An actual sin, a huge one is calling a fellow muslim a khafir.

Sahih al-Bukhari 6103
“Whoever calls a man 'kafir' [disbeliever] or said 'O, enemy of Allah', when he is not one, (the accusation) will rebound to him”

Insha'Allah, I will control myself for my good, but I'm worried if haram things in this life won't be allowed in Hereafter!

Music is like drugs and has effects on the soul, when you stop listening you can have clarity of mind

Im also addicted to it before. I found myself sad when listening to sad, happy when listening to happy, and angry when listening to something making me angry from these instruments.

I think these instruments has the ability to urge your body to move into beat such (taping your finger, playing your legs, or jumping or shaking your head) whether concious or unconsciously.

Soo in my opinion it is BAD for me to expose myself to this thing because it controls my emotion. As for my strength i only can hold myself to not react or move while listening to these instruments for less then 15 seconds.. and then ill be urged to move and fluctuating my emotion especially towards my favourtite beat of the instruments.

Overall, lets improve ourself and become a better muslim.

It is true and It is real that music is haram in Islam.. I as a Muslim and practiser of my Religion have evidence that listening to music or watch a woman dancing is haram. While to listen to Quran pray in home and Mazjid listen to ahadith is the best thing a true Muslim will do.

To say music is haram you need 100 proof,

So basically one shouldn't question and solely rely on belief.
Suppose you were born into a deviant sect of islam, would you do the same? Would you realise that you had been following a deviant sect, unless you had questioned.

Whenever a muslim doesn't have an answer, they say stuff like this. We are talking about music, not something that is beyond our understanding. If music has been made haram for mankind there has to be a legitimate reason which we can understand, you can't simply get away by saying we can't question. Why was the Qur'an sent then? Why was the prophet sent?
Music doesn't have to only be vulgar. Music can also be a means of coming closer to Allah. Why not? What if the adhan is recited with a soothing light background music? How would it take someone away from Allah?

People have a right to ASK in order to UNDERSTAND! Not EVERYONE is at a stage where they can just hear and obey! It was okay for the Prophet (SAW) to marry a child however, a man doing that today is a criminal. I'm Muslim and cannot understand why it was allowed but I accept it. However, it's a NATURAL reaction to be surprised, shocked, confused or even appalled by this event and yet, we accept that it was sanctioned by Allah Subhana wa T'ala.
