Spanish ham is INSANELY good.
I've eaten some unpretentious cured ham in Spain and it was DELICIOUS.
And I'm from italy, I eat Parma ham on a regular basis, it's not like I normally eat bad stuff, but that thing was on another level entirely.

bruh I lived in Spain for 5mo this year and I would die for this ham... ate serrano basically every day in my sandwiches and iberico was a special treat. never tried 100% bellota and I really want to.

I had a great experience with this ham in Malaga and it was amazing. The owner even toured us around his shop. Showed us the process and all. Lovely person but sadly I heard from my friend that he died from Covid last year :( RIP My ham friend :(

I had this in Barcelona! They have these charcuterie delis there that are like convenience stores and they slice it right there for you. It's raw cured, that's why it has that deep red. It melts like butter in your mouth and tastes nutty and delicious.

What people don't realise is that you can get packets of jamón serrano (the general term for this type of ham) at the supermarket for a Euro

The 700 its for the whole piece, not for the plate with the slices, and if you can you should try it, it's one of the best things you can ever eat, so many flavors it's incredible.

This particular jamon iberico is about 30euros per 100grams, so roughly 300euros per kilo of pure iberico ham. Its a true delicacy, since the ham leg loses 40 percent of its original weight and the curing time is 3 years, not to mention its a black footed special autoctonous pig breed to spain that is acorn fed and is free to roam meaning it is exercised for the fat to blend with the lean meat. Its really not expensive if you consider these factors.
