Wannabe Overbridge for Octatrack // Audio Over USB Setup Ableton Live

With this setup comes weird things though like dealing with Latency. Now i should stress that this latency is more of a CLOCK issue NOT a midi note issue. Either way, go have some fun and make a tune.

thank you for sharing this, bascially it’s an audio interface workaround, it doesn’t matter whether the device is TAKT or not, any 2-channel input audio interface would do, even things like MC707. What we want from Overbridge is not only the simplicity for cable connections, but also more importantly the multi-track outputs, it’s quite a shame OT doesn’t support such functions, without OB.

First of all, you are AWESOME!!! This was SO helpful. Second, not sure if this is due to an OB update, etc., but when I set this up, I didn't have to adjust the MIDI clock--it was already in sync. This is phenomenal.

the best Midi latency hacks & solution on input recording!!!
that was problem on my Roland MV-8000 which was internally Native.
everytime I zoomed in, I would see that Gap!!!

I seem to remember what I have done is use the Digitakt with Overbridge the same way you describe but also use the MIDI out from the Digitakt to sync other devices and I thought it worked well... 🙂

Don’t think this is your fault Ricky but that GPU audio pitch sounded kind of misleading. Definitely excited to see the GPU used in audio dsp a lot more don’t get me wrong. It’s just the cores on CPUs and GPUs are totally different and not comparable. CPUs do way more complex and generalised steps per clock core, and there’s a lot of compute in the audio pipeline that ultimately depends on single core because your audio needs to perfectly sync when it enters & leaves your master channel.

i used to do this with my tr09's audio in, when i couldn't afford an interface with additional inputs. on a mac, you can just set up an aggregate device and chain 10 roland boutiques if you want, and run a bunch of different devices into their inputs

Audio over usb should be a thing. Having many channels stream directly into your daw makes the process more linear, like best of both world.

I didnt know the OT didnt have overbridge. I was honestly worried because I utilize overbride on my DT and DO, but you've set my mind at ease showing me I have this option. OT's back at the top of the next to buy list again. Thanks!

Its a complicated setup but you can also use the headphones and send/aux outs of the OT to get other channels into a Digitone and Syntakt
