What is standing in the way of investment in nature and sustainable agriculture becoming mainstream?

Nienke Stam, Program Director for Landscape Finance at IDH - the Sustainable Trade Initiative explains:

Often, the right conditions for local communities and smallholder farmers to benefit from these investment funds are not in place.

It needs a new way of doing things, where farmers have access to inputs, knowledge, new markets, often land rights: and that then requires innovative partnership and the right mix of grants, seed investments and then investment capital to scale up solutions that actually work.
