While much attention has been paid to Trump's controversial foreign policies, we shine a light on the unorthodox economic agenda he might implement if re-elected in November and the effect that could have on not just the US, but the wider global economy.

Our mission is to explain news and politics in an impartial, efficient, and accessible way, balancing import and interest while fostering independent thought.

TLDR is a completely independent & privately owned media company that's not afraid to tackle the issues we think are most important. The channel is run by a small group of young people, with us hoping to pass on our enthusiasm for politics to other young people. We are primarily fan sourced with most of our funding coming from donations and ad revenue. No shady corporations, no one telling us what to say. Might shock trump voters to know that if you tariff at 60% you don’t just get 60% more money

Runaway inflation, unrestricted corporate power, low corporate tax, regulation rollbacks.
Welcome to 1850 economic theory.

So no money, no international reputation or trust, no oversight on corporations, and a gigantic cost increase in most goods. Sounds like a great plan

I anit an Economist but I don't think its a good idea to have a guy thats had to declare bankruptcy 6 times a seat on monetary policy.

4:50 Hilarious that after 4 years of whining about inflation, Trump is now openly promising to *create* inflation.

A weaker dollar would help US exports?!
Maybe if not all countries with a import tariff slapped on their exports will do the same thing for their imports from the US.

Politicians instead of economists making decisions on monetary policy, what on earth could go wrong?

A lot of Americans are complaining about the cost of living and inflation and yet many of them seem to want to vote for a guy who will put pressure on the federal reserve to reduce interest rates (inflationary), put tariffs on countries where goods can be manufactured less expensively (inflationary), and deport millions of immigrants all while more and more people retire and the birth rate hasn't kept up, which will further exacerbate the worker shortage and further increase prices. Make it make sense.

"Less taxes". Sure, that worked for UK swimmingly.

Tariffs are taxes on citizens, but it is much worse: it is a regressive tax because rich people's consumption is much lower - as a percentage of their wealth - than poor people, and this is pretty linear: the poorer you are, the more likely you are of relying on cheap imported goods for your survival and quality of life.
As per the usual, Trump prioitizes his personal wealth and comfort over that of his supporters or the general populace: reducing taxes that he pays and increasing taxes he doesnt pay (or doesn't see that he pays).
