The Mammoth volcano is a 128 mile long blister that is lifting or bulging from the intense pressure created by magma gases. When the Mammoth volcano goes..nothing will be left to squable over.
Dr. Terry Wright, who headed the Sonoma University Geology Dept. for 35 years used to talk about Mammoth. I've been swimming in Hot Creek located off Hyw 395, and the cold creek has huge currents of very hot water boiling up and you risk being boiled. In the early 70's 13 people were swimming when suddenly the water began to boil and it killed all 13 people.
All around the ground has large pools of boiling mud. It's definitely worth a afternoon's excursion!

Yellowstone is fine. It is constantly releasing pressure, heat, & gas. You know, partly through those things the park is known for - geysers.
