Breakers are going to destroy people with this one

“I despise Tull.” … LOL … Admittedly, I occasionally pick items up from the relisters (primarily in China) b/c they sometimes have super rare stuff or raw SSP / low numbered cards that could grade well. But it’s an absolutely absurd racket they have going on!

As someone who has been actively collecting soccer since the release of 2014 Prizm, I have seen so many high and low points of this hobby and this was definitely a low point. The low amount of information we had about this product all they way up until release was just insane for such a "big" product that was going to command a high price point. And I feel bad for those that bought "pre-orders" off retailer websites for was i was seeing north of $3k per box. The checklist really only attracts a certain collector who want the biggest names and it just really missed its mark. With how long they were hyping and building this up there was plenty of time to get much more of a variety of players in this checklist, instead of limiting the players and make a dozen variations of each player just to pump out more product. I was excited to see what dynamic Fanatics was going to bring to the sports card hobby as a whole, but it is quickly becoming grim, with the average consumers being priced out.

Numbering on these makes no difference to me on these. It’s not quite leaf where literally a 1/1 does not make something more valuable in my eyes.

But I’ve seen better patches /10 than /5 and should sell for more. There’s a (in my opinion) misguided obsession with 1/1’s, so the 1/1’s will sell for more than non 1/1’s — even tho I’ve seen /10’s with better patches than 1/1’s. But they could have left off the numbering from any non 1/1 and it wouldn’t change the value of these. Gonna just come down to patch & somewhat auto quality

besides that, all the good cases went to streamers. how can topps ship them 10 cases? there are several of them even on youtube. Ridiculous. And they don't have many subscribers even, views are also a joke compared to quantitiy they receive.

Agree with you about the star ball 1/1 should be only one card not 10 with a bit of the star ball Topps fucked this up

Very good video.
I just recently came back to collecting and have spend quite a bit on breaks, as I felt it was a fine way to start out and made me learn what its all about these days.
I do think that these cards look very nice, but I also think the prices are completely mad. Way to high. We will most likely see many people trying to sell these cards at very high prices soon, but who will buy?
I think its a shame that its gone berserk price wise, all hyped up, and it seems to many people are trying to make money on this instead of having it as a hobby.
Now companies like Topps are smart, they know this and prints shait loads of cards constantly, to keep the hype going. Smart business.
Like stocks, the market will correct itself at some point, and its probably psooner than people think.

Also pretty confident post day one — those estimated values are going to be wayyyy off. Those values will probably be closer in a few months — but these are selling for way more than anybody thought they would

It looks like there’s gonna be 14 Messi 1/1’s — 15 with the dual. The funny part is that eminence had 16 Messi 1/1’s. And not 1 person got upset about the number of 1/1’s Messi had from that set.

You’re right about the Morrison vest. That one is fascinating bc you can Google it and you can see the real one was sold on eBay a few years ago. Also a YouTube video of a guy with a similar one — so the seamstress who made this made several similar ones most likely

With the value of licences you’d think the companies would have a way to get jerseys directly from the teams/leagues etc, rather than relying on 3rd party authentication and auction houses. I will give it to Topps, that at 40k they didn’t cheap out on the jersey itself. I actually wanted to buy a box of this for myself … take the risk, and keep in my collection whatever I got… fully aware of the risk. Didn’t even get the chance. Seems like the opening of the this was earmarked for the casino crowd. I guess singles it is

That Messi auto alone will likely do $8k. And based off what these auctions are running at — wouldn’t be surprised to see close to 12k from that underwhelming case

IMO Dynasty is the exact same thing as every other hobby box for gamblers only it’s higher risk higher(ish) reward. Most collectors will ignore this until that sweet spot as you said where prices will settle - for now most collectors will follow James’s list (so I hope at least)

I’d much rather see 8 variations of good players than players nobody cares about.

Henrik Larsson, Lautaro & Moukoko are the 3 that bring this set down IMO — get rid of too many of those guys and this box is twice as expensive

I just think about the number of great autos for my PC that I could buy at the cost of one of these boxes….I saw one breaker sell 95 spots for $95 a spot…just ridiculous….

I agree with most of you arguments, but I think James and you are missing something about the Salzburg jersey. It’s not necessarily the same jersey that sold on Goldin. During halftime, players almost always change the jersey they’re wearing. It could easily be one jersey worn in the first half and the other in the second half. That said, it would be nice to have a few more guarantees in products of this caliber

CT Scanners running hot right now. Great video and agree, when you strip out the hype and critically assess what your spending money on with this then it just doesnt stack up.

you look like you never touched a sport in real life so what you are saying why does it really matter?
