Coggan has backed off the initial definition of FTP = 1 hour power, throwing a lot of people off. FTP is now defined as "the highest power that an athlete can maintain in a quasi-steady state without fatiguing, where the duration may range from 30-70 minutes, depending on the individual” . While the stated reason behind the modification reflects physiological reality, the fact that now there is no definite anchor point for FTP has confused several prominent coaches in the sporting scene. Some now refuse to even refer to FTP due to this.

It took a while but yes..i find exersion is always percieved and changing...there is no static one number..who wants to do a hour hour flat out .? Why? If iam racing the group dictates my power... its always up and down in percieved exertion and the power graph reflects that... its all really training at getting more power and the length of time changes constantly.

Is there a Lactate Threshold test on Zwift??
I don't pay too much attention to what my FTP is. Since I don't own a power meter I have to rely on my smart trainer which I think it's not that accurate.
