Knurling is the metal modification process of creating small ridges along a metal object's surface to improve the ease with which such an object can be physically handled, lifted or gripped.

Knurling may refer to the process of modification and/or the machine attachment component that is used to create groves along a substrate's surface.

Knurling is already a texture. You don't even need to make it, just apply it to the face with the appearance setting.

I can’t change direction on the coil so it always runs away from the face I choose.

Now do it again, but FASTER! Thanks this was an amazingly simple trick. Edit: anyone who wants to get rid of the little defect near bottom can create an offset plane from same plane as where the coil starts in video and offset it by a few mm(depends section size and height of coil).
