I Paid $233 for a PS4 From Goodwill - Did I Get Ripped Off? This donate PS4 original came with two controllers, 10 games, and a (PS3) camera. The games looked to be in good condition but the controllers had some issues including some broken buttons and analog stick issues. The console did start up normally and I didn't find any problems when I opened it up. The PS3 camera did not work with the PS4 but no overheating problems. So overall not too bad a deal but probably not as good as buying something similar on eBay.

About This Video: I bought a PS4 original from Goodwill. It came with 10 games, 2 controllers, and 1 PS3 camera. The PS4 worked good but the controllers were not in great condition and the camera didn't work with the PS4 at all. The games seemed to be in good condition. Not too bad of a deal overall but not better than you can find on eBay. Still, Goodwill might be a good place to check periodically to see what they are selling. You never know when you'll find a good deal.

Goodwill has become very corporate and profit-driven. They don't seem to care much about actually helping communities anymore or they would still sell these donations locally. None of the Goodwill stores here have any kind of electronics. I don't donate anything to them anymore, it all goes to the Habitat ReStore, who will happily sell broken things even, which is my kind of place.

I’ve bought a lot of electronics from goodwill online and it’s always a crap shoot. Most of the time they don’t test the items like you said

I don't think you paid too much if Goodwill are selling it. It's good to give something back once in a while. Keep up the good work

Honestly the fact that goodwill has an ebay store and their own auction site is such BS. The CEO laughs himself to sleep at night. People literally give him their stuff and then he sells it for a 100% profit with barely any going to actual charity

If i ever sell one of my old systems I would take the case off and hide a $5 bill in there as a little Easter egg.

Goodwill is pretty nasty these days...what poor people can afford this?

Yes, lets please see the videos for the other PS4's and the Xbox One X.
Typically the electronics finds I get from a local Thrift store end up as spare parts for fixing client machines that come into my hands for a little extra life added.
Though I did score an ALMOST working PS3 Launch edition ($30) which I later brought back to its original glory for less than $40 more in parts. (Launch edition had a bad sensor for disc insert, as well as having to re-cap. Several ribbon cables were mangled, and one missing.

I work at a goodwill that posts this stuff on a daily. Its incredible what we see get donated. No lie we got a missile launcher with dummy rounds come in and had to call a bomb squad to make sure. But yeah we get all types of stuff and post it online.

Thank you providing quality content. Even-though I don't do repairs myself I love watching your videos.

This v1 controller suffered the same fate mine did, in that I used it so much i melted off the thumbsticks from use. However the previous owner got a v2 controller and it's easily survived. The biggest problem is v2 controllers drift easily and quickly in my experience over v1's. Plus I'll hazard a guess that R2 button is missing the \o/ type spring. But its nice to see that console had a decent owner previously. just some 'well loved' controllers.

Useful tip to quickly check ANY optical disk. I work in a pawnshop... hold the disk, inked/painted side up - glossy side down - up to the light. If you see light coming through the disk, discard it. Anyone can see blemishes on the reading surface. But pinholes & scratched up printing can be hard to tell without sticking the game into a device & reading it for an eventual failure.

When it comes to Goodwill, I usually assume someone died and some distant relative had to do something with all their stuff.

Great video Steve! I think it would be awesome to see you diagnose and repair in great detail some vintage consoles like NES, SNES, Sega, PlayStation, PsOne, PS2, Xbox, Xbox 360, etc.

I got a wii from goodwill. it was $5. Meanwhile Wall-E for the Wii at the same store was $10

Also worth noting is that Goodwill generally tries to give back to needy folks in the community. A guy who came from a poor family came and worked at our farm, and Goodwill paid for him as part of one of their programs.

Surprised you didn't check all the game cases, tbh. I would have expected one or two to be empty or have the wrong game inside.
