Our Sun is not massive enough to end its life in a supernova explosion the proper term is a nova where the core collapses into a white dwarf and the remaining gas rushes outward into a planetary nebula. Star must be 8-150 Solar masses to result in a supernova leaving behind a neutron star or blackhole while larger star may actually according to some astrophysicists may collapse into a black hole without the supernova explosion being visible as the gravity draws the light and matter from the explosion back into the black hole.

I’m here because I had a scary dream about this last night.

Our sun went out and turned into a black hole and we slowly got closer and closer to it each day until we all died on earth. It was freezing and we all had to live in these domes together to protect us from the extreme cold. No one could go outside and it was dark and depressing.

Thank god it was just a dream.
