I couldn't agree more on the EV. I have an EV and love it but my kids drive the Prius because it's slow as hell and the most reliable car I've ever owned.

If driving safety is a question mark ❓️ another question should be why aren't mass transit, cycling lanes and speed reducing moguls built into residential streets common place in the US?

Surely Clark has seen all these quality of life boosting measures that will ultimately lower the collective CO2 and traffic congestion to acceptable levels in his travels to the Netherlands. If Clark hasn't been there in his decades as a globe trotter, then why not?

How about "safest" "affordable" vehicles for the older folks?

As a Driver Education Teacher of 40+ years, and having worked with tens of thousands of teens and parents over that time, I certainly concur that you want to place that novice driver in the safest vehicle possible. With that said, something that gets overlooked a lot of the time, is how much and how good of driver education training the teen receives prior to driving on his or her own. I prefer to get a teen as soon as they can get a permit (15 in Texas) which gives us and their parent/s at least a year to train, monitor, and evaluate their readiness to assume the awesome responsibility of driving a vehicle in today’s complex environment. If we put the right stuff into that teen, with parent and educator coordinating together, we have a much greater chance of him/her making it through those critical first years of gaining experience and not having to learn the hard way.

It's too bad that people need a list of ideas. They should figure things out on their own.
