How To Recurve a Bow Using Open Fire Steaming Machine?

Today some outdoors bow making. This device was constructed and built by my father. It's perfect to bend some wood and have a a great time outside.

Very nice tool. Only worry I would have is the pipe rusting or the metal getting hot and damaging the bow. Your fire was the right size so that wasn't an issue. Pretty bow of course!

Can you steam bend under the dirt? I read one time west Coast bows were buried with waster and fire pit.

Very nice. Just wondering if you couldn't boil water indoors/on a regular stove...a fire out in the snow...and the way you were pouring water into the pipe..not very heat efficient...lucky you didn't get much into the fire

Please help me: when I tryied to bend my hazel selfbow, it doesnt keep new form... Even after 7 days drying at home :( I string it, and the bend dissapears

Hi, i've seen some of your videos recently, and I think your bows are all amazingly built. As a newbie in bowmaking I've tried to do some tip bending, but It turned out to be a failure, as the belly side splintered, and I had to give it up unfortunately... do you have any suggestions? So need to steam about 30 minutes and you can free the limb just when it's cold okkk thank you, I'm on my first bow and in the next couple of days I will recurve it

What kind of wood are you steaming in the Video? Looks like White Ash.
