Hello, I'm just getting started into bow making. Obviously I've encountered many difficulties, the wood available in my area (southern Spain) isn't the best, and mistakes during the process, like small cracks and wood alignment, make the process a huge pain at times. It's refreshing and inspiring to see that experienced bowyers also have their fair share of struggle, so thanks a bunch for sharing your experience here!

When you recurve the tips, do you typically do some tillering work first on the whole limb (including the part that will be curved) or do you have to then do further scraping and tillering on the curved parts? I am wondering if you curve them before any "final" tiller if that means it will be harder tillering the recurved tips later?

How long do you boil/steam the wood over the pot before you bend it? Does that method work on a twisted stave that needs to be straigt?

Hi, question.
I've heard there are issues with recurved selfbows at higher poundages.

I have a drawleinght of 33inches and with to craft a bow for 80 pounds. I shoot with thumbrelease. Which design would you recomend for me to aim for.
I am fully away that I'll have to experiment - just want ro make sure I take the advice/opinion of superior bowyers beforehand.
