Ddr5 also often have a much higher latency, making the performance jump minimal

First of all: for most people the difference is negligible and you can save some money to get a better cpu/gpu instead.
Second of all: dawg bloons aint that demanding, it literally can't use all of your resources, it's not multi threaded

I was upgrading my 7700k in an old build recently, went with AM4 instead of AM5. Much cheaper mobos, and you don't have to replace the RAM. I was a little worried about stability too, as a lot of these technologies are very new. I'll jump on whenever AM6 comes out, it will all get a bit cheaper and more stable.

Difference between DDR4 and DDR5 is almost negligible

BUT

If you are planning on a build that you are not gonna upgrade for a long time or going for a long-lasting PC, then go for DDR5.

1) DDR4 goes up to speeds of 4800
2) DDR4 is still more common
3) DDR4 sticks don’t max out at 16gb per stick (I have a 2x32gb DDR4 in my pc and some sticks can have more ram)
4)DDR5 is way more expensive

You are right, you do need a specific motherboard/CPU that supports DRR5 memory.
