I remembered this song in the early 79s at a hospital banquet . My husband didn't want to dance and a nice looking young man from the office, in the hospital tall and a gentleman asked my husband for the last waltz with me. I wore a pale blue wrap around dress and he was in a handsome light blue suit. Those were the days of romance and fun. Never to get back again and only through memories. Loved the 60s and 70s. Time moves on and here we are in 2024. I feel so sad for the younger generation not being able to enjoy those years, or know what it was like.Must go on but will never forget the past.

Hi all, today was my grandads funeral, he was 95 years old, an ex-professional footballer, soldier, coach builder and an amazing man. I drove for 7 hours to get back home after the wake so I could have a drink with him before I go to bed. This song was played at his funeral today, it was my grandfathers and grandmothers favourite song as they were too lonely people who met at a dance all those years ago. My children, 5 and 10 years dance to this song as it reminds them of their great grandmother. It is now one of my favourites and a beautiful song and i have listened to it this evening here, to find others who also appreciate this song. Thank you. Peace x

Yesterday, November 4, 2022, I had the opportunity to take my wife to see Engelbert sing live one more time to celebrate our 42nd. anniversary. This great singer, despite having physical problems, has not lost anything of his great voice. Best of all, my wife was thrilled to see her favorite singer so close to her. Time shouldn't go through this kind of stars that make us happy, and at the same time make us dream awake. Let's keep listening to Mr. Engelbert Humperdinck so that he will never be forgotten by the new generations.

This brings me back to my youth, mom and my two sisters use to listen to this throughout the house in the early 70’s, they are gone now, but I can see them happy sitting in the living room listening to Englebert, Tom Jones, Andy Williams and so on. Not my music, but I don’t mind. Feeling sentimental.

I wonder should I go or should I stay
The band had only one more song to play
And then I saw you out of the corner of my eye
The little girl alone and so shy

I had the last waltz with you
Two lonely people together
I fell in love with you
The last waltz should last forever

But the love we had was going strong
And through the good and bad we get along
And then the flame of love died in your eyes
My heart was broke in two when you said good-bye

I had the last waltz with you
Two lonely people together
I fell in love with you
The last waltz should last forever

Its all over now
Nothing left to say
Just my tears and the orchestra playing
La
La

I had the last waltz with you
Two lonely people together
I fell in love with you
The last waltz should last for forever
