During the Second World War, there were a huge number of atrocities and massacres conducted by the Germans and also the Soviet Red Army. One of the most brutal massacres of the conflict occurred in Lidice. Following the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich, Kurt Daluege was sent into Czechoslovakia to reign terror onto the Czechs for the death of Heydrich. He was the Head of the Ordnungspolizei, or the police in Nazi Germany and he was an incredibly ruthless man.

Daluege liquidated two villages in reprisals for Heydrich's death, razing them to the ground as well as conducting hundreds of executions across the country. He was a man who turned the police into a weapon utilised by the Nazis within Germany, and he was admired by Hitler such was his efficiency and power. Daluege in the height of his power had around 120,000 police officers under his control, and he was also known for brutally putting down any resistance to Hitler. During the Night of the Long Knives, he was involved in putting down the SA/Brownshirts, and he even executed some of his former closest friends and allies including Ernst Rohm.

Kurt Daluege today is remembered as a brutal beast, and the Nazi Chief of Police. However after the Second World War he was brought to justice, and was sentenced to death dying in Czechoslovakia. He was executed by pole hanging inside a Prague prison, and at his execution hundreds of people attended to see justice. The Czechs suffered greatly under his iron fist ruling, and to see Daluege dead was what the crowd wanted.

Justice was served, but his quick death was merciful compared to the fate of his helpless victims.

@TheUntoldPast Apologies for the lengthy post.
I say this all the time, but I can't tell you enough how much I enjoy these history lessons. I know so much more about not only the lesser-known history of WWII but also the big picture than ever before. I wasn't that into history as a kid, but now I absolutely can't get enough. I was a 15-year-old 10th-grader in 1984-85 when my history teacher showed us reels of the liberation of the concentration camps and of the enormous pits of mass graves and the bodies of people who were discarded like so much rubbish. It was the 40th anniversary of the liberation and all over the news, mostly because Eva Mozes Kor - she and her sister were one set of Mengele's twins - made herself the voice of the survivors and brought the mass destruction of millions of innocent people back to our collective consciousness. Those films impacted me like nothing before or since (the attacks on Indigenous Americans by Andrew Jackson and others is way up there, too). At age 53, I feel like a student again thanks to you and a few other channels but mostly you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Cheers, good heath, and stay safe...Lois from Pennsylvania 🇺🇸.

Hans Frank was governor of Poland and had nothing to do with Czechoslovakia. The man you are referring to is Karl Hermann Frank, Sudeten German official who served with both Heydrich and Daluege. At one point in this video, he can actually be seen standing behind Daluege as Daluege was reading his speech from a piece of paper. Frank was actually the man who chose Lidice and Lezaky for reprisals for Heydrich's death. Whether or not a radio belonging to group that killed Heydrich was really found in Lezaky is still debated, as the report filed by officers who found and killed the man who carried out the assassination contained a mention of one of the co-conspirators carrying a small radio with him. Like Daluege, Karl Hermann Frank was also executed after the war

When I hear about these men, i really wish I had a time machine so that I could go back n see for myself what these people were made of. I really want to see myself n understand their mindset. I mean how can a human do such terrible things to other human beings?

I never understand what makes you determine which execution is vengeful and is justified. Why is this a vengeful execution? So many nazis walked away without any punishment despite the atrocities they committed and many were discharged after only a few years in jail "on medical problems ", and ended up living to their 80s and 90s. So IMO every nazi that was executed was a justified execution. He butchered a whole village of innocent people who their only wrong doing was living in a village ths nazis decided to wipe off the face of the earth, there is nothing vengeful in this execution

I don't care what adjectives are used in the titles to these videos, as long as they keep these awesome videos coming ☺️

At 0:30 you say "even industrial conglomerates who built objects used for the German war effort were brought to trial" could you maybe do a video on that in the future?
I know there was the IG Farben trial and I think you may have covered some of the companies that were involved in things like making Zyklon gas... but were there more beyond that? And what happened as a result of the trials? Thanks!

Why call it vengeful. It was more than justified.

Just a minor correction: Hans Frank governed the General-Government, the western rump of Poland. It was Karl Hermann Frank in The Reichsprotectorate of Bohemia-Moravia. In any event, both Franks were hanged in postwar trials. Hans at Nuremberg and Karl on the same grounds Daluege was exectued.

These genocidal murderers lived incredibly privileged lives.

I will never understand how hard hearted and desensitized someone has to be to go down this road. That maniac who was head of the German Air Force said “I had a pretty good run at it” when he was arrested by American forces. He actually believed he was going to be used to negotiate surrender of Germany. What a delusional murderer. All his medals and insignias were stripped off his uniforms and was put in a jail cell until trial. After being found guilty he finally realized he was doomed so he committed suicide. These people were SICK and there are thousands more like them in all governments around the world including the US. Even so come quickly Lord Jesus

For some reason, I suspect probably for Cold War need for police forces in Germany, the Order Police were never seen as being a major part of the extermination process and war (occupiers) crimes - and they sure were. Daluege got what he deserved.

This man is well known to me, for his roles in many SS SD operations in the East. But this post is excellent as I did not know of this cretins end. Often wondering what had happened to him. Thank you.

Thank you for this latest video of how Nazi war criminals were punished after being caught and put on trial. Unfortunately, not all were caught and brought to justice for their war crimes, but for those who were, what went around came around. Now the names of those murderers are cursed with infamy, reproach, and utter shame, and much deservedly so.
