This was one of my wife's favorite songs, it would put a smile on her face and make her happy every time she heard it. She couldn't really explain why, it's now one of my most favorite songs (sorry to my wife but not to many bands beat BB, Shinedown comes a very close second). Wife past last year, 43, bunch of stuff (painful) wrong with her, she fought it for ten years so she could see her daughter and son get to young (very young) adulthood. Honestly, there were days that YouTube and music that was special to her (like this song) was the only thing that got her through the day. I do miss her a lot (met her when she was 14 I was 15, we were 8 months away from 30 years together), figure that won't go away soon which is fine, I will just take the time to fully grieve, come to peace with it while I watch the two perfect kids she left behind for me continue with there lives. This song reminds me of my father who sadly passed away December 13 2024. I am still devastated as I sit here and cry. But i know I have to continue to be strong for my 4 sons. They are wonderful boys, each with there own beautiful personalities and each a kind and caring kid. I have raised them this way because my father raised ME this way. If not for his love and guidance I would not be half the man I am today and his grandkids would not be living the same lives today. Thank you Dad for your love and guidance. I miss you. But I will live through your ghost as best I can.

This is why I love Shinedown, they can go from badass heavy metal songs like Cut the Cord, to really heartfelt and deep songs like Trough the Ghost, Sound of Madness, Second Chance, and State of My Head. This band is so flexible and is just amazing at every type of genre of music that it enters. I don't care who leads the band, their songs are amazing!

Brent Smith has a special voice. He gets into people's minds in a good way like no other artist can. I saw him live and met the band and they are some of the most humble, down to earth people I've ever met. All of them. Good on ya for making such happiness with your attitudes and your music
