Rome is not simply a city, Rome has a soul, it is the Urbe

There are restaurants and bars that are older than the USA. If you go to Europe, DON'T go in summer. The secret is at least ONE morning get up early like 6am and walk through the city (Rome, Paris, Venice ....) and you see the ancient city without tourists. It is always magic

I heard once an American woman said “Michelangelo and Donatello isn’t that turtles” I was laughing my head off….

Typical American question: "How do people drive here?" Easy: most don't. They walk.

I live in Rome, and yes, its very crowded because of our population and because of tourists. Some people think its negative, but for us it's not bad at all, as long as turists are respectful and gentle.
We like tourists, after our sunday lunch (very rich and important for italian families) we use to go to the center (downtown) and walk around the monuments or walk to the beautiful and very big parks. It's so nice to see the city full of life, tourists who speak so many different languages, people who worked hard and saved their money to come here, to my city and enjoy the beauty we can offer them. Its such a honour!
They look at the city, while we watch them 😊 I like to sit on a bench and watch their faces, their joy as they go around discovering beautiful and interesting places, with their kids, reading and explaining things they see, eating a gelato, sitting at a table drinking a caffè or a spritz...
During pandemia, Rome was so calm, no people, no cars, no traffic, so clean! But it wasn't really Rome. It was like a dead city, a museum wirhout walls. People are the life and soul of this city.
As a wise man said, People dont love Rome because it is great. Rome is great because people love her! ❤

It's always fascinating to me that the water for the fountains come from the same aqueduct as in ancient roman times 2000 years ago. Talk about quality!

I'm Irish and i've been to Rome twice and Italy 3 times. I'd honestly go back every year. It's a stunning city and country overall.

I am from Norway, and i have been to Riome twice. It was something else. To walk around and be met by time everywhere was fantastic. I love rome. "See Rome and die." I believe that to be true.

Piazzas everywhere, art everywhere, the food (especially in Trastevere), the gelato, the pistachio crema, the archeology, the public drinking water (!), the wonderful people, the maritime pines, what’s not to love?

Non solo i turisti rimangono affascinati da Roma, anche noi italiani credimi!!!
Ogni volta che ci vado rimango sempre sbalordita dalla sua bellezza e dal suo cibo.

Rome is one of my favourite large cities to visit...have spent a week there six times...and I'm not a city person. Impossible to put its greatness into words.

I'm Canadian but now live in Croatia. There is nowhere else on earth I'd rather live. ❤

I'm italian and I've been in Rome several time. It never gets old, no matter how many times you visit. The video don't express it too well but it's not only the several super famous things, you can just walk and every corner you turn you are hit by a fountain or a statue or an historical building... I'm not sure I would ever live there but as a tourist... a dream

3:16 In Europe there are "limited traffic zones" where only authorized cars can go (like who lives in that zone of the city or depending from the hour of the day), or no cars at all. Areas in historical centers dedicated to pedestrians. I guess this may sound weird to Americans...

This comes with pros and cons. Before going to a city by car, one should do some research to figure out where he can go and where not, where are the parkings, whether his car is too old to be admitted... It's not too easy.

BTW, Rome is huge to be visited on foot. Fortunately, one can use metro and buses.

The hands of artists created beauty. Now we have shards of glass and steel reaching to the sky without a trace of humanity in them. So, we marvel at beauty as something lost. If you do go to Italy don't miss-out on going to the opera. It's an experience that you will never forget.
