Commuting gear and race suits have different uses who knew.

If you show up to the track with a padded hoodie and jeans, not only will the laugh at you, the probably won't even let you on the track. Some tracks won't even let you on unless its a one piece track suit.

However, the reverse can be said if you're commuting to work. Your coworkers would laugh at you for showing up in a one piece suit, but probably could get by with padded jeans and a padded hoodie.

Its not going to protect you well at high speeds, but should still provide decent protecting at normal road speeds.

I get you but I’m not gonna wear a full suit to go to work/school

i wear kevlar hoodies and jeans, good for street riding. never use them on track even if for some reason they are allowed

NBT has done some serious testing on their pants, they are legit. Idk if I’d trust them over 100 but for casual city rides, the move

I rock a leather jacket with kevlar jeans. I think for standard city riding it's the way to go.

Similarly if you’re walking through the store in a one piece suit you might also get laughed at. Different gear for different situations

90+ degrees in leather will change your mind, hell you might not even ride anymore😂

I too have crashed in both jeans, and a leather track suit. I also have dug asphalt out of my knee.

At my local track you need at least a 2 piece leather suit to be even allowed on the track.

Recently had a 60mph low side in my kevlar hoodie (alpinestars) thing did its job, sleeves didnt come up, padding stayed in place, HOWEVER the inner lining of the hoodie got that hot from the slide that it melted onto my skin! I thought it was road rash at first but nope, hoodie fibres fused to my arm! Had to be washed and picked out and that was not fun 🤣 leather pants absolutely tanked the slide and look good as new just a little smoother!

As a dude who doesn't ride sport bikes or cruisers my padded hoodie works well enough for my slow as bikes. Although I'm sure it won't do much if I'm unlucky enough to get wailed on by a truck which is very possible where I live.

a leather jacket like that is still about twice the price of a good hoodie

Ya, show up at the motocross track with your leather suit! Now there's a way to get laughed at

Leather will always reign supreme but kevlar is way greater to wear then normals clothes... a slide at normal road speeds can prevent road rash easily, heck ive had few hits where the kevlar didnt even give but the cloth material did.

My biggest issue with jackets is they don't make them in enough sizes I'm 6'4" 280 every coat that I find a 4X doesn't even reach close to my waist. it's like wearing a crop top.

City riding is tshirt and jeans, whatever gloves, leather boots. Armoured hoodie or jacket is mountains. Power ranger suit is track only. LARPing as a super serious racer going to the mountainside cafe is embarrassing.

DC's, that hurt. Got a pair of Dianese now though.

I bought an armored hoodie the main problem wasnt that it didn’t protect because it actually did a great job the problem was the pads didnt stay in place during the crash which was something I wasnt thinking about when buying the hoodie I would recommended getting little straps to keep them in place but if you dont want to go thru the hassle just get a regular riding jacket with all the zippers and straps
