And it’s not like they hit up Yuki Kaji whenever they need a young male protagonist.

Fun fact, when Chooper's voice got cast, Oda started drawing him cuter to match.

Recognizing characters is so fun tho
The amount of joy I get from playing where’s Waldo trying to find if Keith Silverstein was in included in a dub is just great

People forget that voice actors are ACTORS. They can play in multiple shows.

I actually didn't know that the voice for Pikachu is the same as Chopper. But now I understand why choppers japanese voice sounded familiar 😅

I love recognizing voice actors, personally. Especially if they're extremely versatile. Usually the more gifted ones are. 😂

I love Takehito Koyasu. His voice is so recognizeable. He literally saye one line and I am like: "is that him again?".

I appreciate how an actor will be kept for decades to reprise/keep their role. True honor.

Miyano Mamoru being the first person the casting team calls when they need a voice for a charismatic and manipulative character

It’s actually 2 things:

1. American dub actors don’t generally have rich deep voices. It makes powerful “large” or wise characters feel cheap. Kurama is a good example.

2. English doesn’t translate well. People who speak English don’t really talk the way a Manga is read when translated. There are too many ways to say something. English is full of so much slang and unique phrases. So, I feel that actors are handcuffed trying to give some flavor while also staying close to the script.

I feel that the best fix would be letting dub actors do their own thing. Stretch scenes to allow a sentence to finish and it’ll feel a lot better and less hokey.

The only issue is that costs money.

So! Idk. I would hope that they toss more money into English dub and find more VAs with deep manly voices.

The guy who voiced Kratos (most recent games) would be nice. The bald guy from Whiplash.

Sir Ian Mikellan. Actually for that matter how about bringing in more UK VAs. That would help fill in the holes and add something interesting.

Any accents really would be nice.

I actually like recognizing dub VAs, they’ll always hold a special place in my heart as the person I first saw them as in something I liked “hey that’s so and so from such and such anime I saw over a decade ago! Man good times…”

I can't be the only one that feels unusually happy when I notice a dub voice actor in a different anime

The guy who voices dio needs an award
He made me love dio so much
That voice acting was way too good

Think it’s mostly because dubs are often an afterthought and have lower budgets but when a dub does get a good budget and is actually casted well they are really good like in studio Ghibli movies for example.

I always thought it was cool recognizing voice actors in different shows, movies, and games. It's like a trivia game for your ears.
