In this video, we’re overclocking the Core i9-13900KS CPU up to 6200 MHz in 5 minutes or less using the ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Hero motherboard and EK custom loop water cooling.

I’ll speed-run you through the BIOS settings and provide some notes and tips along the way.

Please note that this is for entertainment purposes only and not the whole picture. Please don’t outright copy these settings and apply them to your system. If you want to learn how to overclock this system, please check out the longer SkatterBencher video.

Alright, let’s do this.

I just copied all of these settings to my rig with a 13900KS, ProArt z790 being cooled by a arctic liquid freezer 360. Everything works great! I get roundabout 42, 000 points in cinebench, have been using the pc with this overclock for over 1 month now and never had a blue screen. Saw on the comments that people were saying that it doesn't work because he has had luck with his chip, getting a sp predicion of 115 while most people get 107, I GET 105 AND EVERYTHING IS ROCK-SOLID. THANK YOU SO MUCH !!

Completely under rated channel. This channel is on par with GN. Great Channel.

Is it important to overclock . I want to manage thermals as this thing runs hot like the sun . What cooling system do you recommend I installed a asus rog ryujin III 360 aio. I’m not an over clocker . Hence I’m looking for a guide

I did a perfect per core overclock on my CPU and experienced no problems and the best performance for efficiency and reboot to reboot very little variance.

Separately my ram xmp was stabilized and reboot to reboot stable.

Combining the two, I had to tweak voltages for my scores to get better because initially they were worse, BUT there is some WEIRD, KIND OF RARE graphical artifacting/glitching/screen desync every now and then when exiting transient load states and going back into idle states.

My only assumption is the load changes on idle isn't quite stable now with the RAM. But I've increased points 8 to 11 VF Curve offsets by up to +0.075!!! And it still happens. Cache voltage up, L2 voltage up, even core voltage up from 0.06 acll to 0.10 acll. IT STILL HAPPENS!!! If I play a game, or "do stuff", seemingly no problem? The only thing changing is scores getting lower when changing voltages.

I have the same board but the 13900K. I would be grateful to see a 6.0 overclock on the Z790 hero. If not a video then settings would be great.

This gives me something to work from...getting the same cpu and mobo in later today. I'm mostly gaming so more looking at maximizing frequency while keeping Temps reasonable. Don't really need the highest avx or all core performance.

Any chance can update with the latest bios since things are moved around and you can no longer choose per core usage ratios? If you try change anything it just comes up with a splash screen of Intel performance then tells you what voltages it's going to use per generation like 13700k, 13900K....

@SkatterBencher  Hello, Thanks for the great walk through. Out of all the 13900K and 13900KS videos which one do you recommend for daily?

Thank you for nice informative video I folowed your tutorial, I have same motherboard and cpu but ddr5 Gskill 2x32GB at 6400MHz at standard settings, I have set 5, 7 at all P cores and boost 6, 1 all P cores and all E cores 4, 5 and run prime 95 about after 1½ hour run with avx2 enable one P core hit limit 100C, normal cpu be with flightsimulator 2020 cpu be around 40 to 50C that game use not boost speed but I am very happy with result. And I have custom water cooling system with delid cpu and direct die mounted waterblock so the system is pretty cold at normal use :-)

@Skatterbencher
This RAM does not appear on the Asus QVL memory list for this motherboard, or premium Asus Z690 motherboards either. Ive had compatibility issues with this memory on these platforms, giving single-bit memtest errors, regardless of the frequency (Stock 7200 XMP or the OC'd 7600, both which boot/post/run) but dont pass memtest. Any feedback on this?

hello, I'm writing here because I can't find anywhere an explanation for the "problem" I can't solve. However, I don't know if this is a problem, but I think so. So, I have a 13700k and when I use cinebench r23 my temperatures reach around 87 degrees during testing, when gaming it is around 60 degrees, I use monitoring programs like HWinfo and HWmonitor, plus armory crate for comparison and occt. the problem is that my P cores, when I use cinebench, stably show programs like hwmonitor, the clock speed is 5300mhz, on the E cores, the clock speed shows 4200mhz while the temperatures are 87-90 degrees. the problem is that when I turn on games like CS2 only for testing, or Escape from tarkov, my "msi afterburner in game overlay" and the same "hwmonitor" and "hwinfo64" show that all my cores stop at a clock speed of 4200 MHz. but for a moment when I'm in the game, like 1 second, my cores are on P 5300 E 4200. I don't know if it's a problem, but it's strange to me that at higher temperatures, the cinebench r23 program is able to reach clocks like 5300mhz and in games there are only 4200 on all cores, can someone help and possibly explain why this is happening?

Is there a translation for this for a z790 classified board? The options are different

Can a 360 AIO support this kind of overclocking or should i go for dual 360 rad custom loop? What minimum of watercooling you recommend in this kind of overclocking?

Will the EK-Quantum Delta² TEC Fit On ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Hero motherboard with the condensation rubber gasket that surrounds the cold plate of the cooler installed as well? I have the Z790 Hero + 13900KS and would like to purchase the Delta² TEC after watching your 13900K Maximus Extreme OC video but I'm worried about condensation. The M.2 heatsink looks to be smaller on the Z790 Hero and it might fit with the rubber gasket? If I didn't use the M.2 slot or heatsink closest to the CPU would it fit? Please let me know if you can. Thanks
