Star Citizen The Ship Buyer's Guide - Anvil Aerospace Gladiator Fighter Bomber

The T3A Gladiator is the UEE Navy’s primary carrier-based bomber. Gladiator squadrons are typically divided by specialty: a carrier may have both a Gladiator torpedo squadron and a Gladiator dive bomber squadron. A back seat is occupied by a tail gunner who also acts as radio operator. Though a heavy-hitting bomber, the Gladiator has proven easy to modify and thus has become commonplace in the civilian market. The bomb bay can easily be converted for light transport. Many pilots choose to replace the rear turret’s laser cannon with a tractor beam, making it an ideal craft for light salvage missions.

The civilian model of the Gladiator appeals to those that want explore the ‘Verse with a bit of added security. Supporting a maximum of two the Gladiator is perfectly equipped to explore and fight with or without a wingman. The Civilian model allows pilots to choose between an extra cargo hold or a bomb bay.

got to see one of these in free flight. I got in the gunner seat. Me and the owner tried to shoot everyone down. All I can say is it was sexy and I can't wait for them to finish the turret target lock stuff.

In PU, this is a ship that will likely be a dedicated bomber. There will be room for cargo sure, but I can't see it do much more than very light salvage, something a Freelancer should be able to more than cover. Like the Vanguard, it's built to be able to fit in different roles, but it's too far back in the niche to be moved in my opinion.

I have to thank you for focusing on the civilian uses of this ship since it seems like everyone seems to have lost sight of that from this ship and reasons I originally bought this ship.

One thing that I found was how this ship sounds compared to everything else I've flown. There are so many little noises when landing, the top turret is moving, or when the maneuvering thrusters are firing.

I wish this ship got more love. There's a lot of stuff for it that was concepted but never delivered on by CIG.

Iam really sure this will get nerfed like the superhornet. Due its to OP for AC now. To many missles and 4 guns plus to agile etc etc. Yes soon it will be unhandlbare to be in. Anyways in the PU you wont be so eager to fire those missles all the way. They will be very expensive and thus not just being fired on an not such an huge/hard target. for AC yes its great. But in in the PU it will be less great.

what is the thing you had pulled up in the holo table before you grabbed the gladiator?

last time i flew a gladiator in a 1.3 free fly, it felt really drifty to me...idk now if i had comstab or coupled mode off or soemthing, but i remember it felt like i really didnt turn very well despite its relatively low speed

This ship has been a serious pain for me to take down in Arena Commander.

The gladiator is an awesome ship and although it will get nerfed, no pilot should be without one. On the aesthetics side however, it has to be one of the ugliest ships CIG ever built. The big bulky fuselage does not match the flat sexy back; they should have used a flatter front.
