This eSIM guide explains what an Embedded SIM is, reveals the main benefits and shows you how to setup and get started with eSIM on your supported iPhone or Android smartphone. It only takes a few minutes to bag yourself an online data plan, and the good news is it'll work alongside your existing contract - good news if you want to travel a lot or simply upgrade your existing package temporarily.

For this test, KnowRoaming provided me with a press European package. I used the iPhone XR but other Apple phones including the XS and the new iPhone 11 handsets are also compatible with eSIMs. To sign up, all you need to do is pick your preferred plan and then scan the QR code which is instantly delivered by email. The setup is quick and simple and you'll be ready to go in minutes.

More eSIM supported smartphones are expected to come in 2020, with the Pixel 4 devices from Google emerging before that even. You can also use an Embedded SIM package with the latest iPad Pros and some smartwatches too.

E sims can be helpful because if your phone gets stolen you can still track it (assuming you have control center turned off so they can’t turn on airplane mode or turn off cellular data)

Does the iPhone (XR or XS or 11 Pro) show both the IMEIs (both Physical SIM and eSIM) before actually setting up the eSIM or do they only show the IMEI of Physical SIM first and then show both the IMEIs after setting up the eSIM?
