Should I Blend E85 with 91 Octane to run a 93 Octane Tune? | 034Motorsport

CA 91 Octane fuel from the pump typically has about 8-10% ethanol from the start. If I wanted to add a bit more ethanol to better combat detonation on your 91 Octane Stage 1 tune...I'm assuming this would work fine? The goal wouldn't necessarily be more power, just better protection against detonation.

Hoping you can answer a question. I have a C7 z06. Stuck with 91 in CA, did an intake, Corsa exhaust and tuned for 91. Shop called said the car is struggling with 91, I thought that's the purpose of the tune. They want me to do flex fuel. I asked if we should just to torco or boostane, they said that would be good. They I asked why don't we re-tune for 93 if I use octane boost consistently. Then they said no, it would hardly do anything and maybe I would only see 10 horsepower that I would not feel.

This didn't make any sense to me, if I'm losing 30 to 40 horsepower with 91 and they retuned it then why wouldn't it be better than keeping whatever they did with the 91 tune with octane Booster? Seems like I could have just did the octane booster from the start to get it working with the factory tune instead of tuning it at all.

I'm ignorant when it comes to this stuff but I'm trying to figure out if I can trust what I'm being told. Thank you in advance and sorry for the long question

can you run an e20 blend of 91 octane on a completely stock new car? unfortunately cant get 93 octane here because politicians exist.. I have a ct4 blackwing.

I won’t say which company. B8, 5 S4 here. I was convinced by an installer that I might as well get the 93 tune even if I only have 91 octane available, for those time I might be able to get 93 octane. The car is just going to pull timing to protect itself anyway. Any truth to that? The guy said they did that on multiple cars without any issues.

I have a 5.7 hemi if I do this and I have access to add 93 octane tune on my car can I add 91 and e 85??

It’s too bad that 034 has basically sold out for corporate profits. No longer good customer service and parts quality has declined. I know of more than a couple of employees that left due to a bad work environment.
