I can see that there are a lot of angry people over this! wow! Let's clear something up. To "rotate" the hips or "open" the hips IS NOT the same as "pivoting". It's a big difference. On the jab when you rotate slightly your hips will open, as opposed to when you pivot they will close. This is critical key point. Don't pivot to turn your hips on the jab. That being said, I'll change the title of the video so it makes more sense.

I agree that the hip shouldn’t rotate as it would on a hook BUT the shoulder should rotate forward for maximum extension and snap. The chin should also be down and will be tucked behind the shoulder when the jab is extended.

It’s all in these little details that make such a big difference! Nobody explains these things as effectively as you do! You are a great teacher and much appreciated by this boxing community! 👍🙂

#1 is the world famous Jack Dempsey jab. So glad someone actually demonstrated it correctly.

Look at Usyk's jab.
He rotates his front hip and it's extremelly effective (Usyk vs Joshua).
My trainer (Soviet style) also learned me to rotate the front hip.
Such a jab is very powerfull.

Everybody makes content about high-level boxing, but so few make quality content about basics. Highly appreciated, great work. Thank You.

the attention to detail is second to none, lots of coaches in boxing gyms never explain the science behind what your body is meant to be doing . puré science thanks so
much Coach.

The jab has many many variations, I use the hip rotation in the jab, but is a little rotation with the back foot and I can get power with it
I think each person have a particular way to throw punches in an optimal way. Thats why the practitioner have to know and train a lot of variations as it´s possible (sorry about my english but it´s not my lenguaje)
Thanks for your videos!

I assume: the ones who dislike this video have a big enough ego to think they know it better.

I really appreciate your videos 🙏🏼

Why did you stop breaking down fighters combos on the heavy bag ? GGG combos would be a great idea.

Amazing info as always, don’t listen to the negative people on here. They’re too stuck on their ways

I feel these basics are perfect but later you can add a small twist or sometimes snap twist the hand out for a stinging shot.

Self mental note: Rotate the shoulder, keep the chin tucked, and keep the other hand up while jabbing.

the rotation of the hip with the jab is for maximum extension not power and as such is a much better punch for a taller, longer fighter than a shorter fighter who should keep his foot planted for better power and combination speed.
