I do it unconsciously a lot of times. My accent either goes thicker West Texas drawl or standard American depending on who I'm talking to and how thick their accents are. I've even been known to shift vaguely British when reading aloud.

I didn’t even realize I was a social Chameleon when it comes to code switching ! Being around my elders taught me how to be a “good boy with manners.”Going to public school all the way to high school taught me how to act more hood or “more black”. Got a scholarship to play ball at my city’s private school so I learned a good “white voice”. Instead of waiting for ppl to get comfortable with the real me I act how they think I should so they get comfortable.
