For me, the thing that worried me when I first saw Jotaro vs. Dio wasn’t “Is Jotaro going to lose?” It was “How is Jotaro going to win?”, since even though I know he would win, I couldn’t think of how.

I think araki himself said something along the lines of, jotaro is a serious seemingly emotionless character, but that's because he needs to be. One of Jotaro's greatest strengths is being able to stay cool and level-headed in the midst of danger and the possibility of death. In the episode where children has to beat the Stan user at poker and then a video game, he made a gamble so insane, even Joseph wouldn't have been able to do it with a serious face. Joseph was completely surprised by jotaro's trickery here, but it was only possible due to jotaro's serious nature.

I think thats why Araki personally favors Part 4. If anything he really pushed the theme of “anyone can be unlucky”. Even though the cast of main and support characters is massive comparatively it felt genuine that anyone could accidentally find Kira, with no backup, and lose.

The Highest Stakes fight in JoJo for me was Joseph vs Kars
I knew Joseph was already in future parts. But I couldn't for the life of me figure out how Joseph could POSSIBLY beat Kars. Kars was just insanely powerful for an opponent against some guy using special sun electricity it seemed. Then Joseph sends him into space.
This is why I love Part 2.

The ONE thing that Jotaro has that the Joestar’s don’t have

They don’t have the same type of stand as star platinum

That's why I so love Jotaro in part 4 and 6. Seeing him putting a good fight against Sheer Heart Attack and still being blown up, or seeing him deciding to save his daughter at his own expense and losing this way... was good.

The angrier Jotaro gets, the smarter he gets.

Jotaro's the only JoJo so far where you get that feeling of "Shit boutta go down when he takes a single step-" even though he doesn't look like much. If I'm honest, of all the JoJo's, Jotaro was the only one that felt like his normality amongst the others is what sets him apart. Every JoJo had something going for them, but Jotaro had nothing and that's what made him special.

I think the fight that Jotaro was most at risk aside from the Dio fight I think we all knew he was going to win that but honestly it was...the blind dude with his water stand and how he could hear the vibrations. If it weren't for Iggy I think that they actually would've lost.

That fight with jotaro and Daniel Darby was wild.
They were insanely close to losing everything.

I kinda feel that and I totally agree, but what adds to it is whenever Jotaro DOES show up, it has the "you are so screwed now" vibe. That added to it imo.

To me, part 3 embedded Jotaro as the perfect symbol of victory. The perfect man who never waivers or gets nervous because he always knows how to achieve victory. Personally, this made Jotaro in part 4 and 6 a lot more intriguing when we saw how he had became more human, and in turn he was more prone to lose fights.

THE ONE THING
EVERY JOESTAR HAS
BUT JOTARO
is a father who has appeared one time or another

See i always believed that jotaro was supposed to be the staple of a powerful stand user. Somebody who has a simple yet limited ability and can work around those limits in creative ways. Star platinum is literally just "super strong and adaptable ghost" yet he comes up with insane ways to use the immense power of his stand even though the concept seems so simple

Something that Part 3 introduced to the series was a feeling of “How will the hero win?” We’re confronted with an ability that starts in a strong position against the Joestar, and the Joestar has to find away to use their ability in a clever way to win. However, I think to do that, Araki had to step back a bit from the stakes, so Jotaro couldn’t die, but he could at least still lose. In Part 4, he brings the stakes back to help with the “How will they get out of this” feeling.

As much as I loved part 3, the tension kinda gradually dies out because now I got used to Jotaro having plot armor and in no way will he die. Polar opposite to Part 2 and 4, I genuinely believed both of the jojos would potentially die.

This is one of the things that make me like part 3 and Jotaro even more. In the other parts, the protagonists felt like underdogs. They barely scraped together a victory in some cases. But with Jotaro? I didn’t have to stress about my favourite character being in danger or dying.
When Joseph went up against Kars, you wonder if he can really do it. This is a common scenario. When Jotaro shows up, the boss music is for him. After seeing so many disadvantaged heroes barely coming out on top, it was very refreshing for me to see Jotaro fight on even ground and dominate the battle. Jotaro turns the tables in the dynamic of the fights. He gives the villains a turn to be scared. I can’t speak for anyone else, but the fact that Jotaro is just such a powerhouse is what makes him so entertaining to me

Araki was aware that the idea of "What if Jotaro loses?" wasn't something he could make his audience really believe in, which is why a lot of the more tense fights in SDC went to other characters. With regards to DIO, I still didn't think Jotaro could lose, but it became a very interesting question of "but HOW will he win?" in that situation.

Ultimately, while I'm sure it was not intentional while writing Part 3, Jotaro as a character and as a fixture of the JoJo Universe actually paid off with what happens in Part 6 imo. Because nobody expects something like that. Not to Jotaro!
