Andruw Jones should have been a 1st ballot hall of famer, elite defensive centerfield is a winning skill and the Braves won 100+ games his first 3 seasons as a regular... he hit 400 home runs and played elite center field, he was a hall of famer at age 30 and to punish him because his legs didn't hold up from playing center field is dumb... fax!!!

As a lifer Braves fan going back to Dale Murphy (shld also be in HoF) Andruw Jones was incredibe to watch. You had to see it night after night, the singles, etc. he robbed from the roided up hitters of that era. If defense means anything in MLB, A. Jones is a Hall of Famer.

Oh he is also the youngest to hit a home run in the World Series

Andruw missed out again this year (2024) but has three more years on the ballot and is still trending up! Based on other HOF players with similar voting percentages over the years Andruw MIGHT get in next year, and if not should on his 9th year. I can't see him NOT getting in even if it takes his 10th year.

I’m a Mets fan, so I say this with no pro-Atlanta bias: Andruw Jones should be in the HoF. A good chunk of his value was defensive, but he was a very good offensive player who was unquestionably the best defensive CF of his era, and arguably the best ever. He averaged 6+ WAR over a nine-year peak, and 5.8 fWAR over his 11 full, productive seasons. Yes, he declined sharply after his final year in Atlanta in 2007 due to injuries, but don’t forget that he came up at age 19, and didn’t turn 20 until three weeks into his first full season (1997). I think a lot of folks are thrown off by the fact that his rapid decline started at a relatively young 30, but remember that he was signed at age 16 (also, he hit pretty well in 2010-11, across 550 PA). Imagine that he’d been drafted at age 18 or 21, with exactly the same career, and those 11 seasons had spanned, say, age 24 to 34, instead of age 20-30. Or, imagine if his 9-year peak WAR had been spread out over 12-13 years. His career trajectory might have looked a bit like another CF who is one day younger than Jones, but debuted two years later: Carlos Beltrán. He also compares quite favorably to Kenny Lofton, who many think also belongs in, but who was 25 in his first full season. *Career WAR: A. Andruw Jones is the best centre fielder in the 90s and above. Then he grew into his batting later on, a hall of fame for sure.

There are only 4 players in MLB history with 400+ homeruns and 10 gold gloves; Willie Mays, Mike Schmidt, Ken Griffey Jr, and Andruw Jones. Think about that and tell me he shouldn't be in. Ozzie Smith has nowhere near the offensive statistics and he is in.

Chipper and the Braves shouldn't be criticized for the loses in the World Series. They went up twice against the steroid pumped Yankees, so Chipper, Andrew, Maddux, Glavin, Smoltz should be given credited for 3

Can someone clarify: I've seen places where it says that's there's strong evidence/ things to insinuate that Andruw Jones took steroids and others that say no evidence whatsoever exist that he took steroids, I thought it was his lack of longevity + the steroid suspicion which was keeping him out. Is it that or just the lack of longevity?
